So.....Whit Does NOTHING about the Miami Theft
No surprise really. He is no Hokie, just a power point puff. As our AD, he is the one to do something, or not.
The verdict is in. Thousands and thousands of sports fans all across the country have overwhelmingly said on social media that Tech was robbed. It is something like 80%. The guy making that final call is a Miami homer. Does not that at least rate a formal protest or to the (weak) ACC? Is there not a clear conflict of interest here?
This just is NOT right.
I'll shut up about it now.

Him lashing out publicly at the ACC or the officials accomplishes nothing except to make him and VT look bad. What he should do is work within the NCAA to get a change to replay rules that gives more credence to on field calls. I used to be a big advocate of replay but am rethinking that position. It seems like I disagree with 50% (maybe a little exaggerated) of the replay decisions I see. How many times have you watched a college or pro game and said, "There is no way they are going to overturn/uphold that call," only to see the opposite happen. Just do away with replay, or if you have to have it change the rule to say that the call on the field cannot be changed unless CLEAR evidence shows otherwise after reviewing in the play in real time. None of this super duper slow motion replay. Also put a clock on the review and once 60 seconds have passed and no determination has been made then the field call stands.
Right now the rule says overturn only happens if irrefutable evidence exists.

Everyone already knows what happened and we won in the court of public opinion, I’d argue the head coach had more to do with the loss than the officiating.
You stick your neck out as Whit and you risk throwing your staff under the bus with just the bare minimum of scrutiny by the media.
Bottom line is we’re in the ACC, and there is absolutely NO reason for the SEC or B1G to want us to join. The season isn’t over, we have 7 games to prove it on the field with the media behind us.
Don’t bite the hand that feeds until you’re sure it’s not the only one.

He just like to go to meetings, sit back, does not engage, and basically represent and/or advocate for VT causes. He rather just play golf with the few big givers, does powerpoint presentations to the BOV and advoids any visibility in Burress Hall
He just likes the small sustained CC check...
I think,.. he's the main advocate for VT to the Big 12. The reason.. its easy... VT would have to be aggressive and compete in a power 2 to be competitive. instead of just sitting back and do the hokie poke..

argument? It wasn't a catch, never looked like a catch, and I'm shocked they called it a catch after discussing the play for 5 seconds on the field.
If the roles were reversed and that was ruled a catch, I would be beyond livid. It simply wasn't a catch. If it looked even remotely like a catch to me I could go along and buy into the conspiracy theories, write letters to congress, fire any administrator willing to not fight the good fight, etc. but as it stands.

On the ground means play over. In the jumbled confusion I could see on the field refs calling either the play either way, but I can not see the replay officials ruling.

...to overturn it so they should have never overturned it, but they did, and the ruling on the field was overturned by someone who is heavily Miami biased. Miami right now is the saving face of the ACC and the ACC does NOT want that tarnished. I would bet the farm conference leadership was sweating bullets Friday night.
If Miami was 2-2, the call stands.
If an undefeated Miami caught that pass in the same situation, the call stands.
If we were undefeated and Miami wasn't, the call stands.
But when a 2-2 VT team catches that pass and a Top 10 4-0 Miami team is about to lose, somehow, someway, there is indisputable evidence to overturn the call on the field.

There’s slow mo video of Felton grasping it with 2 hands, continuing to the ground then the Miami DB grasping his top hand off the ball THEN reaching across and pulling it out
The rule doesn’t say “survive the ground and multiple attempts by the defense wrestling you to the ground” it says one foot down, control it to the ground. His entire leg, butt and lower back were down with both hands cradling the ball BEFORE Miami player had to take TWO swipes to knock it out

Doesn’t matter. The officials on the field ruled it a catch. What’s in question is the justification for overturning the call. I’ve read comments about a Miami player touched the ball while out of bounds as the reason for overturning the call. I don’t see that in the video, so if this is what the booth official is hanging his hat on the video does not seem to support this reasoning and he’s opened himself up for the criticism he’s receiving. The call should have stood. There are rules for a reason and they were not followed. I think this is why most people are upset as Hokie fans and why many impartial fans believe VT was robbed.
If the shoe were on the other foot and it was Miami who had the call overturned I think we’d be hearing the same argument. The biggest issue is not following the rules to best protect the integrity of the game. I am not suggesting these reviews are perfect. But there was no convincing evidence to change the catch on the field. There was no indisputable evidence to change the call, which bends the rules. This has a bigger impact on the integrity of the game.

is a fact not something people are just clinging to. The ACC video has not been released to prove their turnover call was correct. Still pictures after he’s on the ground won’t cut it. Ask yourself why they haven’t released one video of what they say happened? Not one.

what you just posted has any basis in reality? You need to get a clue Merc.
First, the whole country is aware of what went on Friday night and PR and public opinion is already significantly in VT corner. Demanding a face to face is both unnecessary and overkill, particularly considering that will CHANGE NOTHING from Friday night. This issue is below BOV level and Whit and/or Sands can/should release a statement conveying the VT disagreement/disappointment and indicate they are done publicly with the issue. Any subsequent actions/communications are done privately.

He isn't like F$U where he runs to a reporter to express his dissatisfaction with anything the league is doing. He just picks up the phone or sends a letter to the ACC office.
