An NIT-level program isn’t good enough for you?

Oh to go back to the times VT made the NCAAT consistently...
Oh wait, thats never happened.... Has Babcock been the AD for 100 years? Is he a vampire?

Vampire? I dunno, but enough people seem to think he... sucks
Rumor is, he bled the Basketball Department dry. 😉 ** Edited by HokieNL at 3/26/2026, 6:29:33 PM

This is why it upset me that we did not participate in the NIT.
Self Realization amongst fans and the program have left the building. I just want to see our basketball team want to play basketball anywhere against anyone if possible. If we went and played and lost by 20 because of injuries so be it but it would have least given the players the experience of playing in a postseason game.

The issue is nobody cares
I don't remember discussion of Wake or Cal games on here.

There was *some* discussion about Cal blowing a 19pt lead vs. St Joes

Without Googling the answer, what teams are in the final four of the NIT?

If we get it right, what do we win? 😁

Nothing, but the point is most folks don’t know and probably don’t care.
Playing in the NIT doesn’t help and may even hinder recruiting. The last time VT played in it in Blacksburg there were only about 1,500 paying fans plus the students that showed up. ** Edited by RJHokie at 3/25/2026, 10:56:38 PM

Love to have an NIT-level program...
...that refuses to participate in the NIT. 😂 We're all about the Fan Experience here at Virginia Tech, aren't we, folks?

Davis: 4 NCAA tournament appearances in 5 years, a Sweet 16, a Final Four,
barely lose to Kansas in the national championship game, 70% overall winning percentage, 69% in ACC games, win ACC regular season championship and ACC Coach of the Year in 2024... UNC: "you're FIRED!!" Young: 1 ACC tournament title, 2 NCAA tournament appearances with 0 wins, two quick exits from the NIT, one declined NIT, overall 55% winning percentage, losing record in ACC (60-70)... VT: "heck yeah, let's run it back!!" Different worlds, man.

Yes, this is why every baseball manager who isnt with the Dodgers...
Should be fired Just an insane comparison to make from resources, to program history, to location

Like I said, different worlds.
UNC has elite resources and elite expectations for MBB. Tech, not so much.

And Young winning that ACC title
Was more amazing than any Carolina natty.

UNC basketball is different vs VT basketball..Much of their identity and
energy (and resources) "require" men's bb to perform beyond an invite. Jordan(the man and brand) aren't going to settle for just an invite and have the resources to back change. Vt HAS to get football right first...no need to pay (non-fb) coaches to not coach.
