Does anyone have replays of Dorn’s flagrants? Couldn’t see them from stands

Doesn’t seem like Coach Young is too happy about them.

His presser quote was Gurdak was as good as Dorn was bad. Ouch!

Yeah, but Gurdak jumps no higher than David Teel!

Paul Silas was a leading rebounder for the Celtics for years
and he couldn't jump well but he was big and got the best position around the rim. A 3 pt shot back in the 60's and 70's was rare and rebounds didn't go far from the hoop.

That was hilarious. And Teel got the 2nd or 3rd question.

Don't have a replay, but here's a description
In the first one, Dorn put his forearm into the back of the Bryant player and then extended upward. Kinda like an old-school "forearm shiver" that I was taught to do in football, but it was in the back of the player. In the second one, Dorn had his elbow extended and as he moved toward the basket, his elbow/forearm landed in the back of the head of the Bryant player. Both were legitimate calls, IMO. They weren't outrageous, dirty-looking plays to me. I don't know if the interpretation of the rules are different here vs what he is used to in Germany, but he will get called for this every time here, I think. He'll need to learn to play a little differently. ** Edited by win-tech at 11/20/2025, 9:06:00 AM

Apparently Dolph Lundgren doesn't care for trash talk?!?

Nothing severe, klutzy perhaps, but both were somewhat weak calls.

Both are fully within the NCAA rules for ALL sports
Contact to the head/neck/shoulder areas with force is a serious foul not only in basketball but in soccer/lacrosse/wrestling It's been a huge point of emphasis for the past 3 years at the NCAA level and it has to be called.

Within the rules? Yes. Somewhat weak? Yes.

Correct. They were legit calls. Actins were not egregious, but careless.

big galoot stuff, where he needs to be more cognizant of his size

Yeah, he needs to remember that he's a man playing against boys.
Sort of a "bull in a china shop" performance last night.

Imho, everyone needs to dial it back and settle down. Dorn had a bad night.
However, he is still adjusting to the speed and physicality of American college basketball. Also trying to adjust to how referees here call games and rile variations. The later is made much more difficult by fact that for Providence and St. Joseph's we had good experienced referees who let them play. Whereas last two games we have had bottom of the pool referees who are less experienced and less confident. Likely try to prove themselves by calling anything and everything especially it it is a point of emphasis. Young based on his comments seemed to want to light a bit of a fire 🔥 under Dorn. MY is good coach and Dorn is mature experienced guy, my bet is he will respond and with time adjust to American game. Obviously the sooner the better, but be happy Gurdak had a break out night that has earned him more PT. He is ahead of expectations. Dorn behind at this point 5 games in. It is still early. Patience mirror MY presser attitude.

No video, sorry, but Dorn looks a bit klutzy, throwing elbows around.
The flagrant 1 calls were deserved, unfortunately. Turns out good maybe in that Gurdak had a chance to play and he was very effective.

Gurdak outweighs him by 30 lbs and only 2" shorter.
You could easily argue he's bigger than Dorn. He's much more nimble. He's got a quick baseline spin move that seems to embarrass other bigs. He works the offensive glass. I've yet to see anything from Dorn that warrants him being given more minutes that Gurdak.

Can't disagree with that.

Agreed deserved. I don't think they were intentional, he's just a giant.

Yes, he'll figure it out.
