Posting History (649)

It is more realistic than most I've seen

Needless to say, I hope we can do better than the ACC media predicts. We have much talent albeit young.

I'd say better because all but one starter is back I think

And at least these players have more experience and they need to be beaten in practice.

IMO VT is ranked way too high

We have had talented recruits and transfers but the recruits are so young and don't have college ready bodies. UVA has proven transfers and a decent returning bunch. I want success asap but others are way more optimistic.

If it works out like that I would be satisfied

But as I have said, most of the incoming talent, although impressive on paper, is young and inexperienced. I do expect much improvement but I think it will more gradual. I hope I am wrong.

He threw his secondary under the bus as one reason.

All the while showing missed tackles and poor coverage. I forgot where I saw it.

I can't believe a school hasn't picked up this song for their pre game hype

Our Greek kid in men's BB showed me we shouldn't get to excited

but Dimaro has great feet and hands (coordination) which separates average bigs from great bigs.

And not to mention for the '27 class, Lillie Graves #1 in IN

and Dani Robinson #37 in the nation! ** Edited by BigDaddyHokie at 7/8/2026, 10:30:15 PM ** Edited by BigDaddyHokie at 7/8/2026, 10:40:12 PM

A new era starts under Duffy

I predict that this roster, with it's talent, experience and depth, will put Duffy's stamp on VT women's basketball and allow us to get over losing a great coach to another program who took some of our potential with him. Did anyone else notice that when we lost players to the portal and graduation we gained better pieces for the chess board thru that same portal and high school recruits? Duffy will start this new look with tenacious D and rebounding we have not seen. Her athletes have size and quickness and combine this with her family-like esprit de corps of celebrating individual contributions to the family/team's success on the court. We have depth to keep those getting minutes can stay fresh. And our gals have team speed to keep the pace fast which is what players (and fans) like these days. If the pace slows down we have ball handlers, both guards and some bigs, that can probe defenses and create situations to give someone a good shot. Carley won't have to do it all by herself. Time will tell but I think this team will embarrass our out-of-conference teams and half our conference foes. We will be pleasantly surprised with different players standing out in games as the season unfolds. Going forward, Duffy will establish a team reputation like those of the past: Pat Summit's TN, and modern programs like UConn, LSU and S. Carolina. ** Edited by BigDaddyHokie at 7/8/2026, 10:47:42 AM ** Edited by BigDaddyHokie at 7/8/2026, 3:50:48 PM

She looks ACC ready to me. With her experience in the pros

and what I've seen, she should be a starter immediately and help VT be a top ACC team.

With our high school recruit Harris-Mott, transfer Latham

and now Dimaro, with what we have coming back, we are gonna be the biggest overall we have ever been. And Dimaro may have the biggest impact from her videos. She can dribble and shoot with both hands effortlessly and she has a high BB IQ. A new dynasty may be on the horizon under Duffy.

And to you.

I believe great years are ahead for our ongoing experiment in a free democracy. May we dwell more on what we have in common and what we want for ourselves, our children and grandchildren, than what we disagree about.

Penn State was ranked 2nd and had a loaded roster last year

We're not even there yet to have so much veteran talent on a team to have poor game coaching loose for us. People (writers and fans) expect too much just to 2 good recruiting and 1 good transfer year.

Yeah we're too highly rated now.

You have schools with 3,4 and 5 losses last year that have respectable veterans coming back that we're above.

Lindey's is optimistic about VT this year

It has VT 26th in the nation, and 5th in the ACC behind Miami, Louisville, SMU and Clemson. Nationally, VT is ahead of TN (7), OK State (30), Vandy (34), Auburn (39), Nebraska (38), TCU (41), South Carolina (44), Wisconsin (53), and Baylor (56). I hope it happens that way but it will be tough. The staff there doesn't think much of FSU (48), Duke (55), UNC (61), Syracuse (62), Maryland (70) and Boston College (72). Interestingly, last year they had Indiana at #31, Penn State at #2, Clemson at #4, LSU #5, Miami #10, and South Carolina #13. And all these laid an egg except Miami.

Found another highlight video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w8_67K6ZZc

she scored 36 points in one game. Still another video:
another but it mostly talking:

Coach Franklin is proving what we always thought.

That if we got the right coach to match up with our beautiful campus and great facilities, we could recruit with the best.

No Hokie fan should ever say a player seems too small!

Remember Corey Moore? He was a DE who starred at Virginia Tech, winning the 1999 Lombardi Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s top defensive player and earning unanimous All-American honors. He was only 6'1" and 218 lbs.

Well we do have 3 OLinemen in the '27 class already

And 10 in the '26 transfer and recruit class. He maybe noticed the crowded OLine room.

Franklin continues to work his magic!

Along with the Tigers and Bulldogs, Moreland held Power Four offers from Cal, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, NC State, Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia.

Sometimes in the past we'd have 3, 4-star recruits in one class

and be happy. CF is showing the college football world how he and his staff can recruit. Now we have a coach with swagger to go with our facilities and campus. Yeah you can coach up 2 and 3-star kids but the 4-star ones are more ready to contribute. Coach Beamer once said when you have great skill position players surrounded by good football players then the sky is the limit. CF is getting us great players at all the positions.

Have we ever had recruiting like this? No

Coach Franklin is the man! I may yet live to see the day VT out-recruits Miami, Clemson, and FSU.

I luv checking to see who we got every day!

A 4 star that chose VA over many suitors including Maryland, Florida State, Florida, Alabama and Auburn!

His potential is unlimited. He could be a real good college player or

a great one. He's only 17 now and may not have finished growing up but he will put on weight. I hope CY keeps him psyched about VT and gives him enough minutes to do so.

He can work with Ethan Copeland and show

him ways to get open, i.e. Cattoor worked hard to screen for others knowing that getting them open meant they would do the same. His back-picks were frequent.

UVA did well last year. I can't blame them for doing it again.

One day the major programs may only take proven transfers while the rest of the schools raise the kids.

Right. Look at Kevin Durant and Holgrum from The Thunder.

From the past yes- George Gervin and Michael Cooper. Skinny guys can run all day.

Checked On3 team recruiting: so far VT is only being out recruited by

Miami and Clemson. And I see no Virginians on Miami's list and only 1 on Clemson's. We have lost 1 blue chipper to Ohio State but none to Michigan and they always dip into our Commonwealth to take top 10 players. Other powers that have enjoyed taking our top 25 players from us routinely that have no Virginians as yet (in order of my past irritation): Penn State, UNC, FSU, Notre Dame, and Louisville. Because of the youth and inexperience on the team I give Coach Franklin a 2 year pass on getting VT to the top 20 and 4 years to the top 10 but as someone famously said long ago: "recruiting is 90% of success in college ball" and I am very pleased with recruiting. ** Edited by BigDaddyHokie at 5/28/2026, 7:20:18 PM
