Damn I can't wait for the season to start.
If we stay healthy, we're top 10.

in the country?? I'm bullish on this roster, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. let's get to top 10 in the ACC first.

We certainly have Sweet 16 potential if…1) everyone arrives, 2) everyone stays healthy.

There are lots of teams out there with comparable talent. There's more to success than accumulating talent in the off-season.

Because the tourney committee doesn't really grade on a curve where figuring it out in the 2nd half is enough.

Everybody is putting a bunch of new players on the court every year now and teams don't have the luxury of "not quickly" anymore - particularly a program like VT. MY needs to have teams begin gelling in November, not late January. By then it's too late. Nobody is waiting around for little ol' Virginia Tech to gel.
I know there's the argument that he finally has the tools to work with - and there may be some validity to that. But until he shows he can implement his system (whatever that may be) with a bunch of new players in a cohesive fashion from the get-go, color me a bit skeptical.

So far 19 points, 5 boards, 6 assists and 3 blocks. Still 7 minutes left.

But I think having a more talented team around him at VT should help. His efficiency and +/- stats are consistently at the top of the team box score which is good.

Neo's today. And look what happened. If you're going to be ball dominant, you better be efficient. It's only natural that the more shots you take, the more points you will score.
And I'm not here to s*** on Neo or compare him to Pedulla. I think he will be good and efficient in the ACC. Just saying that box score lines are not the full story.

That you can only complete if youre bigger/longer
Its a lot easier to project Avdalas at 6'8 than any American PG
His vision is great, and he will complete a high percentage of the looks he has because of his physical advantages
Pedulla did not have that luxury

I think turnovers are the biggest issues.
But international games can be a mess sometimes, with guys who don't necessarily spend a lot of time playing together, so the team cohesiveness can be off. That can lead to more turnovers, especially from the primary ball-handler/play-maker.

Doesn't mean he isn't a good passer, its actually *because* hes a good passer. He takes some chances to fit passes into lanes that many wouldn't because he can get it there often. Sometimes he wont. It'll be frustrating for many. But it wont be for a lack of skill or carelessness.
When the Golden State Warriors flipped from Marc Jackson to Steve Kerr, Kerry encouraged the ball to move quicker, faster and take more chances. There were a ton of turnovers, but it ultimately made them what they were and kick-started a dynasty.
If youre a defender and you have to defend every lane on every possession it is exhausting. You can't be as aggressive as you want so you tend to get pulled tighter to your matchup. This opens driving lanes and makes screens more effective.
But if there isn't a threat, then it is harder for the offense even when compared to the occasional turnover

But same general sentiment. Lots of confidence due to skill. Sometimes makes you try things that not many ppl can do

I know Euro basketball is supposed to fairly high level, but honestly it didn't look as athletic, intense or connected as high level US college ball to me.

weren't where Neo thought they would be.
But despite the 6 turnovers today you have to be happy that he still managed a positive ast/to ratio. Pretty impressive stuff.
