It’s the old 80s-90s uniforms with

the taco holder logo on the helmet. The Commies uniforms were awful, minor league, like the new name. Big big improvement.

Evidently there’s an epidemic of

married women getting busted on tinder dates by their husbands.

Well…in all seriousness, what’s to stop

a school from signing an entire roster of young pros from one country? Like take ten 18-22 yr olds from 3-4 Serbian pro teams?

Pre Michael McDonald Doobies were awesome.

My parents wore out Toulouse Street on summer Saturdays

Ron Darling swears the year round training is killing

starting pitching. That and these kids specialize way to early.

Massie's an interesting writer

also wrote Nicholas and Alexandra and acclaimed biographies of Peter the Great and Catherine the Great

Watched the first couple of episodes of The Madison...

Taylor Sheridan's new opus; Michelle Peiffer is 67 and still an absolute stunner.

I've lived in Ohio for a while now.

OSU/Michigan is practically a national holiday here, integral to families Thanksgiving weekend celebrations.

Evidently the floor was made of glass. Footing was terrible.

Big 12 replaced it during the men's tournament, I think before the quarter-finals. Idea sounded good in a slide deck, I guess.

Ha! I've been doing that with Jack Kirby's 1970s DC stuff...

Forever People, New Gods, Mister Miracle...shorter runs so they're in paper back, probably going to get Kamandi soon, maybe the Demon. I'm one gin and tonic away from getting Mike Grell's Warlord series in hardback.

Secession is always a solid move

for southern based institutions. Hell of a gameplan, virtually no downside.

Yeah I don't get the criticism of the CW either.

Totally understand why they value sports as well; its one of the only (maybe the only) things people will watch live.

Don't follow the Premier League closely at all

anymore; are Spurs really in danger of getting relegated? What the hell happened?

Don't follow the Premier League much anymore

could Spurs actually get relegated? How is that even possible?

Yeah the constant discussion of lines/prop bets is kinda gross.

I vaguely know a high up municipal judge, politically connected Democrat, very proud of his intervention programs for first time offenders and misdemeanors. He told me that literally within 2-3 days of Ohio legalizing sports gambling there was a huge surge in property crimes. Legalizing this **** nationwide is a bad idea. ** Edited by mancunian at 3/3/2026, 4:09:01 PM

The championship will be sponsored by

Standard Oil. I can see it now..."the John D. Rockefeller Cup is on the line today as Ohio State and Texas square off...again...for the Standard Oil National Championship, brought to you by Google, Meta etc."

I used to think the sports media bubble would pop…

now I’m not so sure, it seems like sports are only thing people will watch live anymore. Of course, what the hell do I know? I’m just a guy in my pajamas with an epic cold.

I'm a big believer in the advice of the Founders

and early National Period leaders on foreign policy...avoid entangling alliances, avoid deep connections to another nation, and don't go abroad looking for monsters to slay.

There are worse things than a monarch

as unifying national figure; my worry is that Reza Cyrus doesn't have the chops. He has said he's going to lead a transitional government and that "the military will side with us" ** Edited by mancunian at 3/2/2026, 10:30:42 AM

Niners stadium in Santa Clara is like 43 miles from downtown Frisco.

I mean come on. Give the Commies credit, at least they're coming back to DC (albeit with a heavy govt subsidy). A complete joke that public money is used on this kind of thing. Build something useful like a horseracing track with a casino/*****house. ** Edited by mancunian at 2/19/2026, 3:02:03 PM

I can't see the Big 10 or SEC coming to any

kind of partial membership deal with ND. Of course, in 5-10 years the whole cfb structure could be radically different so...

To quote the immortal Michael Ray Richardson...

"the ship be sinkin" When asked for clarification, Richardson responded "the sky's the limit"

Are VT's end of game problems

becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy? What I mean is the team expecting things to go pear-shaped and then goll-ee, here we go again? ** Edited by mancunian at 1/22/2026, 10:15:50 AM

I remember my Dad telling me

something like “hey bud, don’t stop on I-64 for any reason, if it’s a cop go somewhere with people” when I would head down to the beach from Richmond.

The Lounge 6 mo ago

Dang, I had NO idea that the federales

had solved those I-64/Colonial Parkway murders. I remember the rumors about a serial killer working that stretch of highway when I was at VT in the late 80s.

“The Wackiest Covered Wagon In The West” and

“The President’s Neck Is Missing” were my faves among his oeuvre. Also, who can forget “Troy and Company’s Summertime Smile Factory”? Great variety show.

If he had just blasted the committee

and stopped there, fine. When ND started in on the ACC promoting a full member over a partial and then turned down the bowl...any broad public sympathy disappeared.

I got the MLB package in large part

(this obviously was years ago) just to have access to Scully calling Dodger games. I think he might be the greatest American sportscaster of all time.
