Some have a solar panel in the roof to run a fan to keep the interior cool when parked, but most are large, heavy, and they can't put enough solar cells on the car to charge the battery. This EV is strong, light weight, and probably the most efficient EV in the market...or will be when it makes it to production. It appears to be getting closer to market...they're saying they'll be rolling customer cars off the production line towards the end of this year (2026), but based on their past predictions, that may slide into 2027...

I guess it might make sense if you live in the Southwest and have a very short commute.

If you daily commute is <40 miles, you may never need to charge it...but you can. You definitely need to park it outside to get the benefit.

...they have abandoned that for a more "conventional" layout with a single electric motor in the nose that drives both front wheels. I have to think they couldn't get the reliability or performance out of the in-wheel motors, so they switched to a more "tried and true" approach to get it into production. And yes, my fingers are crossed they can finally bring it to market.

Their car is very unique looking, but the EV market caters to practicality and utilization now. I might have been interested in the Aptera in 2010 but now I can't get by without the gear-hauling room provided by my Bolt EUV.
