simple as that IMO. we have less than half the pool of money compared to clemson and FSU for staff. Pry simply could not attract better talent with experience. plus, he is not a good coach.

and have the players only meetings to basically whip guys into shape. that ship has long sailed.

he is making a name for himself outside of Frank. plus he is in a much better position at SC

It’s obvious they have zero clue how to compete in big boy sports when they crapped down their leg by not joining the SEC. Even if we were the worst SEC team we’d have more money and be better than our current squad. Feed the football beast and the money will come.

When he blatantly said we don’t have resources to compete. We got a minor bump in funding but why hasn’t Whit been screaming until blue in the face “we are $100M short”. And why doesn’t the admin care? The financial reports are public info so they see how under funded we are. No decent HC will come here without funding

this all boils down to funding, just as Fuente indicated years ago. Pry seems like a great guy, but without money to work with, he cant get the appropriate coaches in place. honestly, its probably the single reason we had to settle for someone like Pry instead of a proven HC coach.

And provide the funding needed as Fuente previously requested.

To get us on par with the rest of the ACC athletic department funding. This funding information is public so the admin sees it every year across the ACC. I’m curious if they simply havemt thought it important to give more funding to the football program or if we literally don’t have it? I assume the media/tv money, ticket sales, and money from student fees are all on par with other schools? Where is the lack of funding?

First of all, everyone there was extremely nice and welcoming, we were invited to several tailgates by total strangers. Everyone around our seats were fantastic as well. I will say the tailgating atmosphere was pretty lame / non existent for a 7:30pm game. We got there mid-morning and not a lot going on, even well into the afternoon. We parked in a lot for season ticket holders only a couple blocks from the stadium, so I feel like we were right in the heart of where things should have been wild. Watching the band walk in was kind of cool, I guess. Will also say that while Neyland was a very cool place, Lane is by far louder in general. They used a TON of music/bass to create noise which was kind of annoying after Q1. The entrance was mediocre at best, with the team running out through the "T" while the band plays.... very anticlimactic. Went hiking in the Smokey mountains which was fantastic. Saw the Vol Navy which was pretty cool right outside the stadium. I've always wanted to go to Neyland, and somehow convinced my wife to head to the UT/USC game this weekend w/ the kids. Going to make a mini vacation out of it, go hiking in the Smokys, etc. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions as far as maybe something to do Sunday/Monday after the game in that area, or anywhere in between Richmond and Knoxville? we're driving. and now the big 10 has 18 teams. are they really going to take more than that? and what does VT have to offer? UNC has the Jordan brand (obviously) and Clemson and FSU are superior in football.

academics or anything other than football? we need to get away from teams like Duke/Wake/Cuse/BC with low market value. I agree, we would be the whipping boy initially in the SEC, but we would soon catch up to a mid-pack team with the money we'd be gaining. Hell, even if the second and third stringers who dont get into Bama come to VT, we'd be vastly better than we are today.

only gripe, im not a fan of having a conference with members that spread from coast to coast, mainly because it prevents us from getting to a lot of the away games.

will ALWAYS see the NFL/NBA/MLB etc as a "way out". I dont see football declining any time soon.

we will be in the third best conference. yes, there are some crappy schools football wise in the ACC, but you can say that about any other conference. i'd argue that those schools DO have good basketball programs for the most part, so its not all negative. ill be happy if we stay, happy in the B1G and kind of upset in the SEC.

What makes you think they’d be in the ACC Champ game every year? I’d say every other at best and probably less than that. Remember when the ACC thought F$U and Miami were going to battle it out in the ACCCG every year? To date that hasn’t happened. I’m not so sure ND would be all that hard to compete with to be honest. We’ve proven we can.

we might be competitive amongst ourselves, but certainly not against the SEC/B1G upper teams

if we dont offer bags of cash, we wont even get the P2 leftovers. they'll go to other schools who will offer $$$. I'm not saying I agree with that, but i think its true. i actually hate what this has done to college sports.
