for those of you who think VT is shoe-in for a spot
in a P2 conference, look how this guy explains "TV math".
lots of people think we are going to 24 team conferences, but it may not add up

Anyone following this knows that VT isn't a lock any more. Only UNC in ACC.
Even Clemson and FSU aren't locks.
The fact that the Big Ten is balking at Oregon and Washington means that no one, save the bluest of the blue bloods, is safe.

They didn’t talk to each other until two weeks before they announced on June 30th. He said each one was trying to get the best deal for themselves and that’s all they cared about, not the other school.

but still, see too many posts saying we bring so much stuff to a conference that we would be included.
"we will bring the DC market". ha ha ha

"Having a lot to offer" and actually getting invited are two different
things. VT is a Top 35 program no matter how you slice it. But we are on the wrong side of the velvet rope right now. Kinda like trying to get into Studio 54 back in the day. Plenty of hot people outside, but less attractive celebrities get in.
I'm not going to lay out the case for VT here, but as you'll soon discover, this is not based on merit or even common sense.

If you don't think there is a huge VT following in DMV then you have never spent any time there or have been living under a rock.

But you don't see that that "huge" following will not bring in enough of an increase in TV revenue to INCREASE the annual payout to each conference member.
if you dont see that maybe you are the one residing under a rock or you need to remove your orange and maroon glasses.

LOL, your opinion is based on some flunky sports reporter in Louisville and you are now an expert on which teams will bring revenue and which ones won't. Yeah right.

I live in PA 2-1/4 hours from Rutgers and 5-1/2 hours from VT.
I have never met a Rutgers football fan. I met a few alums. But I doubt they could tell me what football conference they are in. Meanwhile, there's Hokies all over the place. Rutgers isn't even close to being the favorite team in NYC. Rutgers was invited to the B1G with the conference knowing full well that they weren't going to deliver the market. A VT addition would be quite good for the SEC in the DMV. Enough to get them to add us? I'm not sure.
