Posting History (119)

The Lounge 7 mo ago

Like James Franklin, I'm more into the hiphop, r&b, rap (the good kind)

But yes, i do remember the song "Hands" and sure i've heard many of her songs.

They don’t have a DC. There’s no one to hire him yet.

I expect him to make his way to VT. A sure landing spot, but there’s a chance he waits for options: - Pry (expected) - Knowles - future PSU DC

I'd be SHOCKED if they let Overton test the waters. VA star talent. VT 100%

Hawkins is a BEAST and the perfect downhill type of runner, but if Franklin is building a core foundation, he's the one I'd see them test the waters with. But honestly... forget any of that, those two (Hawkins & Overton), you gotta keep those 2 RBs. That way, Franklin doesn't have to worry about FINDING more talent. Just build from there. You have the veteran, the young experienced RB, and the true freshman young talent RB. That's all you need Year 1.

He doesn't do elite offenses. He has a Beamer mentality offensively.

Ball control offense that leans HEAVY on the running game, plays the efficiency game, and the explosive plays break open by either long passes or long runs. That's why his defenses are always so great (nearly top 15-20 every year) and his offenses average ranked around the 50s or so. He wants to wear you out, then let his playmakers make plays. So, we agree that we know that philosophy all too well with Beamer's offense. I hope that he has an offense that puts more stress on defenses, and maybe PSU firing him allows him to reset that philosophy. He is in fact an offensive-minded coach, so he's fully capable.

I hear you. One of Franklin's talents is hiring assistants.

VT's coordinators will be experienced, legit, and well paid. I'd love for the hire to be a well-known/popular name, but that's not AT ALL necessary. Just be known to be great at what you do for years, and they'll become a household name with the talent Franklin will be bringing in.

Oh don't worry, i have no argument for this topic. Forgot about Hokie Club

Think he's not wired for next level thinking and taking VT to another level. As if he's hit a ceiling. A lot of sports are performing well except the biggest revenue driver – football. Getting him to go further seems to be everything you listed, so trust me when i say... i'm with you.

I'd argue he's done very well as AD, minus the football program. **ducks**

So maybe this was him, and others around him swarming to help. Allowed him to focus on what he does best, which is behind the scenes.

Some of you on this football board are clueless. My goodness.

The man has one of the best winning records in college football, and he's mediocre?!?! What he's done and accomplished is VT settling? I don't understand what it is about him that creates these unreal posts. This is a great hire and an obvious one at that.

You're forgetting their arrogance. They think they're Ohio St elite level

Their administration and fans view themselves in the same light as Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and LSU. They're not and will regret firing Franklin when they did. Many of the best candidates are already off the board. We'll see who they end up with.

Such a weird post. Google him and his resume and ask yourself...

...do you want this at VT? Honestly, his resume looks arguably similar to what VT was under Frank Beamer for like a decade, who also struggled in the big game with, I believe, a similar record vs top 10 ranked teams. Look at what he did at Vandy! Look at the talented and successful assistants he's hired over the years, where many have become head coaches. Look at the talent he's put into the NFL, many the have developed under his time as head coach along with his elite recruiting. He's the real deal.

Which part? You might be right about PSU, but he's 110% an elite recruiter.

Obviously, he would need to do and say more than just "follow me". Thought that went w/o saying 😏 About Penn State, lots of potential candidates have signed extensions Cignetti, Rhule, Brohm, think SMU locked in their coach too, and others don't seem to pushing for that job. Let's see who they end up with. They've created a high pressure HC job now, but not as much pressure as, say, the LSU job.

I can see it because he's no NFL head coach. Great NFL OC though.

Side note, i predicted Mike Kafka as Penn State head coach weeks ago. Just throwing that out there. ** Edited by VTizzle at 11/13/2025, 3:30:50 PM

30-day transfer window. All PSU players can enter the transfer portal.

Not to mention other programs with recently fired coaches with the same window. Have to bet a lot of recruiting is going on with fired coaches behind the scenes. ** Edited by VTizzle at 11/7/2025, 11:59:42 AM

J-Lane (gettin Eddie Royal vibes) --> Tuten --> Peeples --> Strong

See both Lane and Tuten goin Day 2. The rest Day 3. ** Edited by VTizzle at 4/24/2025, 12:45:30 PM

As of today, 6-6 is realistic + likely. Difference now is an early surprise

New schemes that could potentially get early wins, where historically have been losses and slow starts by Pry teams. New key players, new coaching patterns/tendencies, and possibly a new identity in some respects (i.e. defensive looks/fronts, coverages, offensive plays/personnel/schemes). However, that doesn't necessarily translate to wins. Does this new staff adjust better over the course of a game? Will the team have a new found level of intensity to start the season? We don't know anything yet, but I know Pry is trying to squeeze out wins earlier in the season rather than later.

3–8 is a bad team. 7-6 is NOT a bad team. 24 team had lots of NFL prospects

Now that we got that out the way, because I fully disagree with your assessment of the team... I do think returning those players may have been the problem and resetting the roster is necessary. Honestly, I think the coaching was the problem in on the 2024 team and that's being addressed too. Last season felt like the 2003 team and I can see next season having a much better team than last year.

Agreed. This is my view. ND and Ohio State look like the best teams.

Ewers could become ND's bestfriend though. ** Edited by VTizzle at 1/10/2025, 6:18:13 PM
