Let's talk about the game..
We are 13.5point dawgs. I'm not sure why after watching FSU several times. IF we control the ball and can frustrate Castellanos, I think we could win outright.

I think FSU wins by 14. They are much better at home than away.

If they drop passes against us like they did against Clemson, we have a
punchers chance to win. Still might do it if the "O" plays well and defense plays up to its capabilities. Go Hokies.

I'd like to think guys that were pressed into service too early......
......are starting to get it. There are flashes out. The defense has played well at times, but there are too many inconsistent moments. They need to stay off the field. When you are playing a LB at S, you know you have hit the limits of lack of depth. On offense, I think the OL has really improved, and Heath being healthy finally gives that vertical threat that was lacking, but it comes down to Drones having the yips and not being able to chuck in the ocean. We have no semblance of a passing game at this point, and that will doom this team. If Drones was anywhere near his passing consistency of three years ago, I'd say we have a chance to beat F$U and uva. Uva's QB has been less impressive by the week.

Not so sure OL has improved that much. Biggest concern is Monty's game plan
Will he stick with what he seems to like or will he play to the strengths of a flawed QB, OL and receiving corp for the whole game? He's only done that once this year.

OL has been more consistent though not great by any means
There's just no offense but the wishbone that fits Drones at this point. IIWII. I do agree Monty needs to do a better job of recognizing that and figuring out what he can do.

The wishbone? Good grief. Just move Drones & make Ds defend the whole 50 yd

They will load the box and stop the run. Drones can’t pass so we won’t
score. Defense will be okay but can’t hold up without offensive help. Special Teams will do at least 2 stupid things. So, no chance

Drones is - by far - the most pressured QB in CFB. That's all his fault?

Partly, opposing D's knows he can't throw quick routes and makes slow reads
Wouldn't you pressure him?

Key word was "ALL".
Of course he's partly to blame. But Monty's scheme/playcalling, the OL pass blocking (especially with Monty's scheme/playingcalling), and the receiving corps lack of separation and pass dropping deserve well more than half the blame.

I wonder why we don't take more shots
Deep with the two Green(s) like we did against SC? Some great catches and near misses and others that got called back. He'l, even Gosnell caught some balls who's been missing in action. If they're gonna load the box why not? Only did it once if I remember vs Louisville and that nearly was a huge play. I don't expect a ton of success or a win but they have to try. As inconsistent as Drones is his deeper shots are his strength.

Let's talk about Benji Gosnell
Completely forgotten and wasted. As for deep threats, having Heath back has been help, but throwing deep requires receivers to separate and the OL to hold blocks long enough for that. Then you have to pray Drones makes the throw. We finally had Green wide open vs Loservile, and he fingertipped it. I think Monty has done a great job, but he's still trying to run his offense with a QB that is entirely incapable of doing so. Not even sure what offense Drones would work in right now. Maybe go back to some of the Tybow misdirections from two years ago. A steady diet of running and the occasional play action deep throw is the only hope of winning.

Triple option & TE our only hope..
Maybe run triple option with our 3 big backs until they stop it, hit some play action deep, plus don't forget the TE! There's a saying in football."The TE is always open!"

Maybe, just maybe, TEs have to block because the 5 OL can't defend > 4 DL.

Because Drones can't "see" it?

Did you read my post?
We had few nice deep ones and quite a few near misses against SC. Beats the alternative of not stretching the D at all. Drones has has a lot of nice deep balls while here. Receivers have to do their part but he usually gets it there. It's the decision making and accuracy on his short and intermediate balls that kill us. And it's a confidence thing as well at this point. The leaky line doesn't help. Calling some deep shots and letting it rip is a no brainer to me. ** Edited by crazylane at 11/11/2025, 11:20:18 AM

I think this is revisionist history. From my watching and eye, he
overthrows deep as much as he underthrows short.

Yes, but if he doesn't see it, he holds it hoping to see it.
