Similar to getting an autograph on something not related to their sport...
My friend and I were at a women's basketball game in Cassell in the late 90s. We were in elementary school at the time. We look over and Michael Vick was in the section next to us. This was a few months after the championship game against FSU. We were trying to find something for him to sign, and sure enough he signed each of our tickets for that women's basketball game. Just a funny story my friend and I still talk about.

I've heard its tough logistically to get equipment in and out of Cassell
But then again they do have a stage in there every year for graduation, so who knows.
Something like a comedy show or something with stage in the middle of the arena would work well.
I would think e-sports would fit the Virginia Tech brand really well. Drone racing would be cool too.

Also I remember back when she signed with the Hokies there was a picture of a red Jefferson Forest glove. Pretty cool.
Having her and Pickens on the same pitching staff will be electric.

This may be a hot take, but why do we need divisions in the NFL?
There are now 17 regular season games. Two conferences (AFC and NFC).
Here's my idea. Get rid of the divisions.
Every team plays it's own conference opponents once (making 15 games)
The other 2 games would cross over into the other conference. They could be at the front of the schedule for everybody.
Playing everybody in your own conference would lead to built in tie breakers when it comes to the post season.
If two teams are tied for the last spot, just look at their head to head matchup in the regular season.
Just a thought that I've been working on.

Well now their season is done. Finished with a record of 50-2. Crazy.

The top photo is if they treated this as two separate 4 team brackets
The bottom photo is how they have it set up, where the losers from the 1-0 games cross to the other side and play the winner of the 0-1 games.

Does college softball have a summer league? Similar to the Cape Cod League?
If so, it should be publicized more.
The Cape Cod League is a fairly well known thing, they even made a movie that was loosely set around it, Summer Catch (Freddie Prinze Jr, Jessica Biel)

Looking to camp before/after a game this fall
I wasn't sure which board to post this to.
I'm interested in camping either the night before or the night of a game this fall.

It's interesting how they weave the brackets together
In theory this could just be two separate 4 team brackets (similar to a regionals format) with the winners of those brackets meeting in the championship. However they weave them together.
If you look at the May 31 games. If they kept the 4 team pods separate, it would be Winner of Game 5 vs Loser of Game 7, and Winner of Game 6 vs Loser of Game 8. However they flip who those Winners of Game 5 and 6 meet on that day.
Hopefully that makes sense how I explained it.

What are some of the hottest/coldest games you've been to?
I have a few. The 2008 ECU game in Charlotte was very hot. Just a sea of humidity. The 2008 home against Duke was definitely one of the coldest I've been to. Some more recent ones I can think of would be the 2017 game at ECU, and the UVA game at home in 2024.

It'd be interesting if they had the ACC Tournament in a neutral location
Similar to other sports. I'm sure there's a nice softball complex somewhere in the Greensboro/Durham/Charlotte area. Heck they could host it at Moyer in Salem.
Although I do see both sides of the coin. Having the ACC Tournament at rotating schools allows those schools to make renovations to their facilities and brings in $ for the college towns that host it.

Anybody remember the vibes in English Field for postseason baseball?
I was there for the 2013 regional. It was electric, even with a rain delay thrown into the mix. My dad and I had a great time.

I had a similar NIL idea
Would it be possible at check out from concessions in Lane to "Round Up" or "Keep the Change" for a designated cause, in this case towards NIL. I think it would add up in a hurry.
