I have a question. I don't understand how in this day and time, the
traditional networks (ABC/NBC/CBS) just naturally draw more viewers than a cable network like ESPN. With cable TV today, every package offers both traditional networks and ESPN/Fox Sports unless the person is using an antenna. So it would seem to me that any college football viewer has an equal opportunity to watch ABC or ESPN.
That must not be the case based on what you wrote. Why is that?

VT is like the "see no evil", "say no evil", "hear no evil" monkey meme...
the VT elites screwed VT back when we had an actual invite to the SEC and poppycock'd it as if we were better than - even though anyone with even moderate interest in VT sports understood we should have taken that offer. Don't worry though, no one will be held to account for that massive fail...pensions are still fully intact.

It's called a slow drip. They will continue to drop nuggets like this to
keep the story fresh and illustrate the corruption. When this deal was originally made, many here (and on other ACC fan sites) pointed out that the gift to Raycom smacked of corrupt self dealing and a willing giveaway of revenue. Anyone can see that requiring ESPN to involve a joke distributor like Raycom was a complete farce and didn't serve the interest of any ACC school. If Raycom was a valuable partner, the SEC would have kept some distribution with them...but only one conference CEO's child was working for Raycom at the time.

Agree. People love their college football, but in the grand scheme the
number of people, as a percentage of the population at large, that spend time and treasure on college football are a significant minority. The more expensive it becomes, the higher he dropout rate will become. The dropout rate will be an exponential curve as the cost rises. College football is on a self defeating path IMO. The golden goose is getting strangled.

Of course they are. Disappointed and think these teams will weaken the
conference, but no surprise. ACC loves to sabotage itself.

I have YouTube TV and it has all the conference networks as well as
Fox Sports and all the ESPN's. For us streaming is just easier than having cables and wires running all over the place. Plus you can put your TV wherever you want, and don't have install new cable outlets.

Our primary video is streaming (40+ age). We went with YTTV specifically
because it offered the ESPN portfolio plus SECN, ACCN, B10N. We also subscribe to Disney+/HULU/ESPN+ but get that subscription included through our mobile phone provider.

"MOM! I'm gonna make a sports twitter and I'll be out of the basement
before I'm 45." "Also, bring me another slice of pizza and a grape drink."

This is interesting. Oddly, I don't recall seeing anyone else mention
this combo. It actually makes a lot of sense if they want to get to 20. Still chuckle at the thought of the hoos in the SEC.

I still don't get how they couldn't find competent officials for the
biggest and most widely viewed WBB final four in history.

All the other B10 and SEC schools must not get it either, because they
are all fighting for and investing hundreds of millions for football supremacy, not basketball supremacy. If there were more money to be made in basketball, those coaches would be making $10MM per year, not the football coaches. I get what you're saying, but I just don't think it works out that way in practice.

I was hoping to see a post from you when I navigated to this board
and you didn't disappoint. Great post! Look forward to reading more from you as this saga unfolds. Hope VT has USCe, Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee coming to Lane Stadium in the somewhat near future!
