Has anyone ever heard of Projection Sports? Man, how far we have fallen.
We are4 not even in the top 76 teams. Pathetic when you see the teams slated "above" us.

26 teams in each tier (13 East, 13 West, 12 Games). E winner vs. W winner
for Tier 1 national title in the Rose Bowl. Top 3/Bottom 3 teams are promoted/relegated. Need to be in Top 10 (of 13) to be safe.
130 teams (5 tiers).
The dividing line to put approximately 65 teams in the East and 65 teams in the West would be around the city of Chicago. Schools from FCS wanting to move up can form a 6th tier and try to move up from there if they choose.
Once in place, the system runs itself.

We had a crappy year last year so of course we will be shown at a bad level on a basic fan made chart like this.
Reality would be much different if anything like this ever happened.

Defecation Sports đŠ. Pretty lazy chart on several fronts.
They just uses 20 teams like the PL. Well the PL plays 38 games matches. Is that what this league would do? Or just 19 games? LOL.
England is also very small geographically. In the USA, I think you would have to do it regionally to cut down on travel. I'd suggest East and West (13 teams each region, 12 games, 6 home, 6 away). East champ vs. West champ for national title in the Rose Bowl in New Year's Day. Would me massive.
