I've kept quiet about Brooks going to Kentucky but now I'm gonna share:
Those of you who respect KB and have said he has "class," you probably said the same thing about Tom Brands. No difference in my opinion. After what he did, there was serious talk about ending the wrestling program. After KB ends up taking players on the roster as well as our top 10 recruiting class, I can see VT holding open tryouts this summer of the student body to fill our roster. I only mildly exaggerate. The guy has no class. He only see $. And things like this will only continue until the NCAA gets their heads out their a$$. It's madness. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GJycPOjW0AAoTxr?format=jpg&am... ** Edited by 1979HOKIERED at 4/3/2024, 11:12:46 AM ** Edited by 1979HOKIERED at 4/3/2024, 11:15:24 AM ** Edited by Will Stewart at 4/3/2024, 12:22:27 PM

The same thing could be said about Marquette's coach this morning.
But I am sure we won't treat her like someone who just came here for the money. Part of keeping our sanity is knowing where we are in the pecking order of things. I grateful that Kenny Brooks took us to new heights. I wish he stayed just like I wish Buzz Williams had stayed. But I'm not going to badmouth them on their way out the door, and am thankful for some of the great moments those coaches helped provide.

Totally disagree Maroon....KB left a top 10 program that he had built,
with a top 10 recruiting class and great fan base to a program that won 6 games this past year and quite frankly no one in Kentucky cared about cause its not men's basketball. Yes, Duffy left a good/solid program but for a "better" opportunity in VT. No one but KB would say the same for what he did.

Well we just hired a coach
And are eyeballing her recruiting class. I hate it but it's reality.

Tom Brands and Kenny Brooks are entirely different.
AlfHokie AlfHokie
Yeah, at least Brooks had success here before he took his toys with him

You said the same thing when CMY brought Cattoor and Aluma?

I wish Hokie fans cared as much about coaching performance as they do class

I wish everyone cared more about integrity and character... but alas

If you're looking for them in coaches, you're looking in the wrong places.

We should require folks posting on this topic to
Detail their 40 year career of loyalty at one employer.

Haha love it!

KB played Everybody Including Whit B
He had us all feeling good about loyalty, integrity, and stability. He cast his lot for thirty pieces of silver. Now, he has slithered away. We have to move on now. The goal is immediate triage to stop the bleeding. Need a good coach asap. Fingers crossed

Did Pry post a 'classy' goodbye/thanks to PSU fans when we hired him?
I'm just not sure this is even a common thing, so we might have our panties in a wad about nothing. Re:taking players/recruits, EVERY coach does this in every sport, so I don't think it equates to 'class' in any way. ** Edited by The_Phew at 4/3/2024, 11:19:52 AM

Why yes, now that you ask, he did.
The_Phew The_Phew
Thanks. I think MY did as well?
The obvious question is if KB did it when he left JMU. If so, then maybe Hokie fans might have a legitimate gripe.

Pry..wasn't a Head Coach.. I could Care Less about KB leaving..
Might be a blessing.. Players made him..

The "Pry wasn't a HC so it wasn't the same" is the most disingenuous fan
delusion ever.

It has some merit
Head coaches are faces of universities in some regard and held to a different standard. Anyway, Pry posted a nice message to PSU on the way out.

If you are a head coach or a coordinator, you are still employed with games
remianing, there is no substantive difference. Your responsibilities are to your employer and players just the same. ** Edited by NokieHokie at 4/3/2024, 1:11:58 PM

No kidding..What's next..KB taking the neighbor's cat !!
Such Drama Queens here and Bully Bob's !! ** Edited by Will Stewart at 4/3/2024, 12:26:07 PM
The_Phew The_Phew
He was PSU's Bud Foster.
If Bud left for a head coaching gig (which he nearly did a few times), Hokie fans would have sh!t a brick if he didn't do a gushing goodbye message. ** Edited by The_Phew at 4/3/2024, 11:25:39 AM

he has a right to care about $$ ; dont blame him for that; but interviewing
and poaching before the season was even over is the biggest offense IMO; i wonder if a contract stipulation could be that if your final class has over x% transfers to your new position you lose some bonus… theyd prob just pay it but seems worthwhile

Thank You..plus Whit cutting $$ ..carry on

Most coaches take some players and recruits
Heck . We hope Duffy brings a few. What Brands and Buzz did is a different level though
