Iowa finished 4th this past year. Their wrestlers finished as follows:
2nd, 3rd, 2-5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. Can we do that or better this year and make podium? Yes, but it won't be easy. Let's just see how the upper weights do this year. Think they will be the key.

They rank VT 5th in duals and 6th in tournament...WITHOUT BO!!!! Have him
ranked 73rd at 141. HAHAHAHA Maybe we shouldn't put too much stock in their rankings....

The 2 of the final 3 pitchers we used have season long ERAs of 7.62 & 7.00
My goodness....a 2 run lead ain't safe with those numbers.

Or another way to put it, .14 batters per inning. We know the struggles
Emma had this year with walks. She averaged .75 per inning. Coupled with Wild Pitch ave. of .25/inning, that's 1 runner every inning on base on ave. That's potentially a lot of runs. Hope she finds a "groove" in the offseason. She has loads of talent but that was her "achilles heel" this year.

Considering going to National Duals. Doesn't anyone know or remember from
last year, the length of time they wrestle each day, ie, 10am to last matches starting at 8pm or whatever?

Well, it's pretty obvious they didn't put a lot of weight in the postseason
Conference tournaments. Kind of like basketball. It's the overused body of work.

If we can't host, I'd prefer the 21 seed. Wouldn't that mean we would be
hosted by the 12 seed and should we win, probably play the 5 seed??? I like those chances better than being a 17 seed, playing the 16 seeded host, winning, and then having to play the #1 seed.

Look....In the Big Dance, there are going to be a lot of good teams just
like FSU. Accept the fact that we are going to see good pitching. To be successful, we are not going to be able to make mistakes that cost us runs, be very disciplined at the plate and play our best. At that level, not doing any of those things can cost us the game and season. Today was a great teaching lesson about what's to come.

If you had told me before the game that we would limit Florida State to 2
Runs I would have told you we were going to win. I would take that all day long. Credit to there starting pitcher who threw everything on the outside edge and down low. Never gave our batters anything high or inside to hit. I thought Avery pitched her heart out. Emma just didn't have her best stuff. She couldn't find the strike zone. Her pitches were all over. But there's more softball to be played and even though we probably won't host, somebody that is hosting is going to have to face us and I wouldn't be real happy about that if I was them

Well when Emma's hot she can strike out a bunch just like she did against
Virginia, but today her pitching radius instead of being 2 ft. Circle is about 6 ft. Four walks and two innings ain't going to cut it sprinkling a wild pitch or two and all that's up to is losing the game. But it's still early.

Let's say we get to host as a #16 seed and win. Wouldn't that mean that we
would play a Super Regional Best of 3 against the #1 seed (assuming they had also won)??

I know everyone wants the Hokies to host but in all seriousness, we seem to
have played better on the road vs. home. At least the records says that. I'd hate to have VT as a #2 seed if I were a hosting team. I'd like our chances.

Not watching tv so help me out...at 3-1 pitch count with bases loaded and 2
outs, why wouldn't Nora take the next pitch with hopes it would walk in a run instead of swinging? What am I missing here?

Have to disagree Cowpatty...by "toughest assignments" for Mazz, if you mean
she was facing the opposing teams #1 pitcher by starting Game 1, I don't disagree but that has nothing to do with the stats for the batters. Whether you pitch first inning or 5th, they are facing the same hitters. Bree put in "Better situations"?? IDK I mean it's 0-0 for the first inning if Mazz starts and if Bree has to come in later in the game and there are already 2 people on base, there's plenty of pressure so I'm not sure that holds water. The stats I looked at were based on per inning, not total where Bree's numbers could certainly be better. Take a look at them and I think you'll see what I mean. I'm just glad we have 2 excellent pitchers, maybe more but the numbers are what they are. One final note, you refer to Mazz experience starting and being around 3 years, handling pressure situations. So if anything, shouldn't she be better able to handle game situations and have better numbers?? Go Hokies!!

I will tell you who SHOULD be 1A according to the stats....Bree should...
Her stats for ERA, Runs, Base on Balls, HR given up, and esp Wild Pitches are all better than Emma's. We've been getting in trouble during the 1st game of series putting people on base and then giving up the untimely big hit. Emma has been better in keeping them off base. Considering that most teams we play roll out their best pitcher in the first game of a series, we should counter likewise with Bree. Emma is better than 90% of everyone else's 2nd pitcher. I'd feel very comfortable putting her out there for game 2. We would have a better chance of a sweep instead of series wins like last week or possibly this week, although Emma pitched well yesterday for the most part. Everyone is welcome to disagree but that's what the numbers say.
