. . . fingers. There's the dreaded Thoracic Outlet Syndrome causing lower arm pain and swelling in the fingers. I've seen that up close with the pitcher in question having fingers swollen to small sausage size. It occurs in both softball and baseball pitchers. It can be transient or chronic. The fact is that collegiate softball pitchers are freaks of nature. Few survive the orthopedic stress without some minor or major injury over the course of their career. The way she spins the ball probably puts a lot of pressure on that area. I used newskins back in the day for pitching blisters but dermabond is popular today. Hopefully we won't need her tomorrow so she'll be totally healed by next weekend.

On the serious side, she did not look and sound like someone who was done for the tournament in her interview...she sed she felt great, so hope was just something goofy and she stepped out in a preponderance of caution...
