Posting History (361)

Our #5 thru #9 batters had 8 of our 10 hits tonight

It was a similar result 2 games ago. If the top of the order finds their stroke tomorrow look out!

I'd start Bree

and let Avery finish up if we have a decent lead. Then Mazz can start tomorrow with Bree available for relief work if needed.

Yep, I also access ESPN+ on Disney thru Spectrum

I really like it since you can tune in live or start at the beginning, as well as pause or move +/- 10 seconds. You can also fast forward thru commercials until you catch up to live TV. Also, if you can't watch until later you can select the full game replay without having to see the final score posted.

Looked like maybe a blister on the index finger of her throwing hand

The way she spins the ball probably puts a lot of pressure on that area. I used newskins back in the day for pitching blisters but dermabond is popular today. Hopefully we won't need her tomorrow so she'll be totally healed by next weekend.

Hopefully it's just a blister

Should be OK by regionals but might be doubtful for tomorrow.

Zero K's by the offense

And a bunch of hard hit balls right at someone plus robbed on some defensive gems. Could've easily added a few more runs, but loved all the solid contact.

Most folks don't realize it

but humid air (more water molecules) is actually lighter than dry air so the ball will travel further in high humidity.

Yes it is

Not sure if the stats shown on the ACC website include tonight's game, but we easily lead the league in wild pitches (52) with ND in 2nd with just 35.

Wow - we have 4 starters hitting. 400+

and 2 more in the .380s. That's better than anything I can remember from past squads.

Pretty big cell headed NE

Will probably delay start of game but things might be OK after that.

I can't remember the last time we had 5 players hitting

above or very near .400. And a .365 team batting average ain't too shabby either.

Why were they playing her like an opposite field hitter?

She loves slamming line drives down the right field line. I just commented on that yesterday. Someone really screwed up the scouting report.

Jordan Lynch is a doubles machine

She tied the record in her freshman season (18) and already has 8 this year in just 15 games.

Out of our 13 hits

Ten were for extra bases (6 doubles and 4 HRs).

There's actually going to be a high chance of rain

Thurs nite until about 9:00 Fri morning with about an inch expected so the fields will be wet. Hopefully by our 2:00 game things will be dried out a bit. But the rest of the weekend looks great.

That probably wouldn't have helped

If you've been following the news you would've seen that this year's flu vaccine has had a negative efficacy (-28%) meaning people that got the shot were contracting flu at a greater rate than those that were not vaccinated. About the only protection you can get is through good hygiene practices, but that's probably not a priority for most college kids.

The girls are probably loving it

When I played a lot of tournament softball I remember losing the first game in a double elimination tournament and ended up playing 8 more games that day before we finally lost. That was incredibly fun!!

That's how I access ACCNX through Spectrum

But I've noticed that through the new ESPN app I also have access to ESPN+ games without having a separate subscription. Not sure why but I'm not complaining.

I saved this bracket schedule yesterday

and it doesn't match that shown through the link at the top of the board. Just checkin' to make sure.

Very inspiring story

At least the video didn't show her throwing any off speed junk ... lol!

To change the subject ....

Check out the stats for Belmont's #1 pitcher. She has 355 K's in 197 innings. But their bats are weak in both BA (.278) and HRs - only 24 on the year.

We could have weather issues with our game

Future radar shows good chance for some rain/storms moving into the area just before or during our game. Weather looking quite iffy for tomorrow as well, especially later in the day.

Why didn't we just sit on a change-up?

You know you're gonna get at least a couple during each at bat. And most were right across the plate. It seems like every pitch we were guessing. Did either of Cori's blasts come during an off speed pitch? I know she hit those out before.

It's been so frustrating that

our entire pitching staff has suddenly not be able to throw strikes. They're constantly behind in the count which results in way to many walks and HBPs, or having to groove one that batters have no problem turning into base hits. We've been able to cover up this deficiency in many cases by outscoring the competition, but as we prepare to enter the post season we may be in big trouble keeping up. I don't know what the answer is, but unless we turn things around very soon this once promising season will quickly come to a disappointing end. Sorry for the negativity, but this is just tough to watch. But I do get great excitement every time Cori steps into the box. She has undoubtedly had the greatest season any VT hitter has ever experienced. And it's not even close. What an amazing talent!!

Why can't we throw strikes??

Just about every batter Emma's faced has gone to a 3 ball count. Hard to win when constantly behind in the count.

What a weird inning that was

Two suicide moves on the basepaths and who knows what that last call was about.

Announcer mentioned Lyndsey Grein

I knew she was having a great year but a 25-1 record and 1.15 ERA is incredible. I wonder what changed....
