I was an hour late to start this game, but watched from the beginning:
I am guessing this has been brought up, but...
That Walk by Mazz of the leadoff batter for Auburn in the bottom of the 1st inning, was on 3 balls. I went back thru the video twice, and it went strike, strike, foul ball, ball, ball. Then the 1st base umpire stopped play for something (about Mazz?), Pete talked to the team and umps at the pitcher's mound, and then when play finally started again, the plate umpire said the count is 2 & 2, but the 1st base umpire came in and convinced him it was a full-count (which it was not). The next pitch was a ball, which they counted as ball 4. Fortunately, for my voice and sanity, our awesome ladies got out of the jam unscathed. I am pissed at this umpiring crew and disappointed in Pete's scorer for not calling time to review video of the pitches prior to the long stoppage of play.
Then they threw Pete out of the game in the 2nd inning and our wonderful women kicked Auburn's ass (again)!
Lastly, Chip, please tell the Hokie fan behind home plate to turn around, get off his phone, stop bothering other fans, and watch the damn game. He was pissing me off for distracting Mazz (and me) and making all Hokies look bad.

I’d wager that rule hasn’t been enforced in 10-15 years or more.
It’s also a dumb rule. Rosin dries the pitcher’s hand/fingers. That’s it. It’s not a foreign substance like something sticky that would help the pitcher grip the ball or something black like grease that would make the ball harder to see.

Really inexcusable

The rule says a pitcher has to wipe off her hands after touching the rosin bag.
And awarded a ball without a pitch occurring.
I think Pete was questioning whether or not that was even the rule and ended up being tossed.
After being tossed, reports are that he got his money's worth.

I don’t know that we’ll ever know - those that do know aren’t speaking.

10.13 SUBSTANCE ON THE BALL/ITEMS ON PITCHER
10.13.1 Under the supervision and within view of the umpire, a resin (a drying
agent) may be used on the pitcher’s hand/fingers. Any substance (including
resin, dirt or saliva) applied to the pitcher’s hands and fingers must be wiped off
if it would transfer to the ball.
10.13.2 No player or other team personnel may apply moisture or any substance
to the ball or into a glove that will then contact the ball or do anything else to
deface the ball. Exception: All new game balls shall be sufficiently rubbed up so
as to remove the manufacturer’s gloss before being put in play by the umpire.
EFFECT—(10.13.1 and 10.13.2)—The ball is a delayed dead ball. For the
first offense, a ball shall be awarded to the batter and a warning shall be issued to the pitcher when the substance comes in contact with the ball.
For the second offense, the pitcher shall be ejected. (Behavioral ejection;
see Rule 13.2.1.)

Is they charged Mazz a ball for the illegal foot placement on the rubber. If it’s not that, I got nothing.
