He can’t see that from the dugout

He might have challenged if the baserunner was convinced she was safe. The umpire is literally standing right there. Question: Do teams have personnel that can view a play and recommend whether or not to challenge?

Exactly. I 100% agree. Frankly, I don't really care who wins this game, but

runner certainly didn't seem to go into fair territory until 2 steps or so from the base

Seems like they legislate common sense out with the rules. If a runner can

never shift from running lane to fair territory to touch first base, then add the orange safety bag and be done with it. If they had the safety bag when Tech played FSU, there is a chance that Chatfield would not have been injured.

I was sad to see her go, and she had a great season but the numbers are

a little apples and oranges comparison. In the B1G and NCAA tournaments, she had the following numbers: 15 2/3 Inn 19 Hits 17 Runs 11 ER This includes a 5 inning 3 hit shutout of Weber State. I hope she does well this weekend and has a great senior season. I just don't think just looking at numbers is the whole picture. I agree with Chip that she is maturing, and I hope she finishes her career strong. ** Edited by 133976Hokie at 5/20/2025, 6:30:30 PM ** Edited by 133976Hokie at 5/20/2025, 6:31:01 PM

I happen to think Rohs's SS defense IS MUCH better than Castine's. I think

there is no chance that she is not the starting SS, unless she is injured. Of course, that's my opinion. She should continue to improve her hitting, and you can see she started to incorporate some "small ball" into her at-bats. If she can improve that aspect of her game, it would be really help her game

JSU really choked a chance to tie. Pitcher threw a WP over the C head, but

runner didn't even break toward home. C then threw it over the pitcher's head and runner still stayed at 3rd

I feel so badly for Emma Lem. Looked to me like she was apologizing to

the coaches when they came to take her out. She is such a great competitor for VT and I hate for her to go out of the game feeling like she let the team down. I hope she has a great Regionals (and supers?)

I agree about developing more control. I'd love to see us throw

better pitches when we are ahead 0-2 & 1-2 in the count. Our "waste" pitches are so non-competitive, they do not tempt opposing hitters to chase. Next thing you know, the count is full. Even better, let's not start every batter with a 2-0 count
