Anyone get a definitive explanation about the "non force play at 2nd base"
I have a theory although there were no camera views to confirm or deny. I suspect the baserunner tagged second on her initially jaunt, then retreated back to first when thinking the ball was caught , only to scamper for 2nd when it was evident it wasnt a catch. If so then im pretty sure it is no longer a force play at second and the baserunner would need to be tagged.
Or of course the replay folks in studio just blew it. In any event quite a break for us.

I am still convinced that Rachel was out. The Akron player was needlessly positioned to be able to apply the tag, but the first replay they showed on ESPN+ showed her foot touching the side of the base when the ball arrived. The first screenshot below in this thread was from before it mattered and the second one near where it did matter doesn't show any separation.

So, Pittsburgh said it was confirmed the fielder didn't get the force or tag?
Of course, I'm arguing semantics in reality.

into the bag as she slid. If the 2b's ft was not quite on the bag, it was after RC's ft pushed it on there...

Or least would have given a more definitive view. IMO, the view we all go was slightly through the corner of the bag from the 3rd base side (I think) which made it hard to see if her foot was touching or had space. At the end of the day, the goal of Pitt is to get it right, and if they could not change it, they could not change it. I would have been unsurprised if they changed it.
I believe the umpire had the best view to see (from the RF side).
