UCLA Regional will have Courtney Lyle and Danielle Lawrie on the call
Per ESPN, Courtney Lyle is a play-by-play commentator for ESPN and SEC Network for a number of college sports, including volleyball, basketball and softball. She returned to ESPN after serving as an event production intern in 2010 and 2011.
Lyle graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2012 with a Bachelor’s in Journalism and Electronic Media. She currently resides in Knoxville.
Lawrie is a 2008 Olympian and member of the Canadian National team, as well as a 2009 Women’s College World Series champion with the University of Washington. She had one of the most remarkable seasons in NCAA history when she went 38-7 with a 0.84 ERA and 477 strikeouts in 315 innings. During that year, she pitched 12 consecutive complete games in the last three weeks of the season, starting and finishing every game for the Huskies during the regionals, super regionals and College World Series. She threw 395 pitches and two complete games in one day, including a 15-inning game in which she struck out 24 batters.
Lawrie has also played professionally for USSSA Pride and the Canadian Wild

Lyle started in local sports at the NBC affiliate here in Knoxville and advanced all the way to ESPN. Knows her stuff, sets up her analyst well I think. Gets excited at the right moments.
Lawrie is a little off beat but does a good job compared to most analysts. Hopefully a Hokie can go HR opposite field as I think her favorite phrase is “Oppo Taco”

Almost two strikeouts per inning. Career ERA of 0.78.
I know I'm not the only one who wonders how her game would translate to this era, and how good the Hokies would be if she were pitching right now.
Somehow, as a senior, Tincher lost ten games (38-10) despite an ERA of 0.63 and 679 SOs in 344 innings. I guess those teams back then just couldn't hit a lick.

VT & Tincher lost the 1st game 1-0 on Saturday. VT had to win 2 on Sunday to advance to the World Series.
Tincher pitched 2 games on Sunday, winning the 1st game 1-0 and the second game 6-1.
On that Sunday, she gave up 6 hits, 1 run, and 2 walks in 14 innings. She struck out 22.

he had his weaknesses and blind spots but, he built the program from the start and he created a good program despite the challenges he faced. He reached the point where he had taken the program as far as he could and change was necessary. However, despite any obvious personal disappointment he handled the transition with class IMO. That is why despite some of my own frustrations during his tenure he earned my respect and gratitude given some time to mellow and reconsider. I am sure there are others that will disagree and that is their right, not saying they are wrong, just my perspective has changed over the years.

pitches. Having zipped the Olympic team tells you just how good she was. Now players see good rise balls in high school so they are more aclimated to it.

like I said below low or no run production in a large number(9 of 10) of those losses and the 4-3 Arizona loss was a damn fine effort. In those days if a person got to the field early enough there was space behind the backstop and under the bleachers where you could get a ground eye view of exactly how special she was. Her velocity was not bad but, her spin and movement and the ability to hit her spots was dominant. Up/down/inside/out she could work the entire window and it was always entertaining to watch the batter walking back to the dugout shaking their head. Particularly entertaining were the victims of K's approaching the plate for later appearances knowing what was coming and then taking that same walk back to the dugout again.

was a bunt attempt, especially if we had runners on base. Amazing, that it worked a few times & increases chance of error by infield.
