Probably old news but ESPN suggested the Acc adding Utah, Memphis, SDst,...
and 1 other? Not saying add all but those would be ones that would help Accn. ** Edited by HokiePail at 6/3/2024, 8:21:44 PM

Utah, Stanford, Cal, SMU, Oregon St and Wazzu isn't a terrible western pod
That's probably about the best the ACC could do at this point.

Utah? Ok. Memphis, SDSU? Might as well just fold up the ACC.

Why in the world would the ACC want to add SDSU with Stanford & UC Berkeley
already in the fold. Dumbest idea ever, typical of Entertainment & Sports Programming Nutjobs

Southern California is nothing like Northern California

Southern California is its own recruiting area.
SDSU won't bump the ACC Network, but will be a recruiting draw.

Helps get more advertising reach, NIL sponsors and eyeballs for streaming
which is increasingly more important than cable hookups since they are declining. Correct me if I’m wrong, but we need to move away from thinking cable hookups is the only thing that matters. These are the reasons that the B1G was able to sell to its membership to take a football first school and a basketball first school from the same city. We all know this is primarily about the numbers, but it’s much different numbers than 5-10 years ago.

All of them are suppose to bring viewers. Maybe it's bad info.

The ACC waited to long and now there are no "good" teams to add.

Utah would be a good add...

These suggestions typically are referring to after FSU and Clemson leave

That’s laughable

I see "talk," but no $$$$$ behind it.
Have a feeling ESPN didn't want those schools before, and they don't want them now. (Utah is probably the only exception.)

I have one big question with all of these "add so and so ideas Where does
the extra cash ( $35-45 million/team or more payout), come from to pay all these new teams? More TV cash? Doubt eSECpn wants to up their current contract payout. Amazon? Vinnie and Vitos Cash Cable? Bad enough adding the 3 that were added but eventually all new entrants will want a full share. What revenue streams are in hiding now that can be tapped in the future?

Yep. If anything the ACC needs to contract, not expand.
Adding G5 schools will not save the ACC. And why would Utah leave the relatively stable B12 to jump on a sinking ship?

Vote out BC and Wake
Doubt the total contract goes down at all. Minimally. Then distrubute that extra, say, $75mm to teams with some matrix of high ratings, high athletic debt budgets and high performance in football and BB. Another $15mm to fsu and Clemson, another $10mm to unc and miami, and another $5mm to vt, UVA, gT, state and Pitt. Problem solved. ** Edited by SpeakToDamien at 6/4/2024, 2:45:07 PM

Was it suggested today?

I saw it about 1.5 weeks ago. All of them supposedly bring viewers to the..
Accn.

Thanks, Utah squashed it and said it was blatantly false over the weekend.

Which is often a prelude to acceptance. Funny how that works.
When someone denies, there is usually some truth to be found.

What does it mean, then, if there is no denial?

Agreed, I said that in another post, Saban was staying with the Dolphins
than the next day, Bama. They really can't say anything else before it is a done deal. People give them a hard time, but until it is a done deal, you are happy right where you are at the moment. These things do fall apart sometimes, there was a rumor Frank Beamer was going to UNC. :-)
