Such a bogus, manipulated metric. Of course a team playing on ABC at 7:30
will have more viewership than playing on ACCNX (does this even exist) at 12:00. Also if the ND/Clemson games count as ACC games, that is even more bogus.

when you consider all the other factors that are considered,
I'm completely fine with legacy. My kids did get accepted, but it pissed me off that was removed from consideration. It was the only non-merit based factor they could claim.

If you look at the last 4 years, NCSU is def more consistent,
but before 2020, not so clear. But you are prob right, recent performance of 8-9 win seasons is a good mark.

Agreed, most 17-18 year olds don't want to write 4 extra essays.
even if they are short. Schools that use the Common App and standard writing prompt are easy, but custom essays or responses do take more time. I think 75% of the schools my kids applied to had supplemental writing. However, sometimes it is optional, so some kids might just leave it out. We told ours that if it was worth the $80 appl. fee, they were going to write an optional essay.

Don't think I'd call them lucky...
Save the Big East and recent PAC-12 explosion, the Big 12 has been the most raided conference.
Frankly, I think its amazing that the Big 12 is still in the P4/5 discussion and is stumping as the #3 conference. ACC has only lost Maryland. Big 12 has lost Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma. That's quite a list, yet they are still maintaining relevance. Granted, they have Colorado back and have added some respectable programs over the years, but I wouldn't fault the Big 12 for going out and making waves trying to backfill.
If blame needs to be assigned, it is saved for the original poachers. Like it or not, ACC is one of them regarding the Big East.

Went to a Pats game in Boston and took the Patriot Train out to Foxboro.
Nothing fancy, but very practical and got you to and from the game without dealing with any headaches. It may limit tailgating, a bit for those that come, but its an easy ride after drinks too. You could make it a more luxury ride with food and drinks, but its a short ride from Roanoke.

NCAA game time question...
I bought 2nd round tix for Charlotte this year. obviously, we don't know what teams make it through the first round, but when do the set the game times for the 2nd round? All I can find are TV times that are not assigned to a given location. So, does this mean that we won't find out whether the 2nd round games in Charlotte start at 12:00 or 7:00 until after the first round games are done? Is there any good rule of thumb for when they should be? Like, since they are east coast, they should be either the first or second set of games on Saturday, not primetime.

I think the holdout by the ACC may keep it intact for 5-10 more years, but I think it will hurt any schools that ultimately make the jump to P2. Regardless of any exit fees (and large ones), the P2 are already raking in much more money than ACC schools and the gap is widening by the day. When there is a 4x gap in a few years, there will be 0 leverage for any school to negotiate, so the P2 will offer a horrible deal because all the schools vying for spots will be so desperate.
One possible miscalculation is that the brand values may also be diminished, so the P2 may get less bang for the additions. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Top 12 does not guarantee a spot either. With 6 Conf. Champs,
you must assume at least 2 won't be in the top 12. In that case, simple math dictates that #11 & #12 ranked non-conf champ doesn't get in. Or even a top 10 team if there are more conf. champs ranked outside the top spots. It just depends how high every conf. champ is ranked. You would expect at least 4 in the top 10, so making the top 10 should punch your ticket in most years.

These comments are silly. UM won and they beat the SEC and PAC-10 champs
on the way to their title. Their opponent UW beat the Big-12 champ, plus they beat the 2nd place PAC-10 team that everyone probably still thinks is better, not once but twice. Georgia and FSU were the only other teams in the conversation, but UGA lost the SEC and I'm not even going to open the can on FSU discussions.
Be happy we saw two great playoff games that came down to the wire, even tho the final was less exciting. It is way better than having Alabama over FSU in a stand alone bowl with Alabama claiming to be co-champs. Saying UM isn't better than past year's NC's is childish. They won this year, end of story. Plus they had a arguably tougher road than every other past NC, except the last few who also played in the 4-team playoff.

Football Version of B-ball Confernce Challenges
Similar to a scheduling alliance, develop made for TV ACC/Pac or ACC/Big 12 challenge packages for the network. Maybe its 6, 8, or 10 games, depending on interest and marketability. I'm not sure how this works with the current contracts, but maybe its an adder because it gives the network some control over the FB schedules. Just guarantee alternating home/away each year, but not necessarily the same opponent year to year. This would help networks with ratings, so it should result in a bonus for the conferences involved.

I suspect the timing on UO/UW was planned by the B10.
It was a big move to get UCLA and USC, and they probably had to do some lobbying and negotiating to turn them from the PAC. Getting UO and UW today, the B10 could dictate terms. I'm not saying they ripped them off, but I'd be surprised if the entry terms for UCLA / USC are identical to UO and UW.

Not opposed to some alignment with the BE in basketball
If it increases revenue for ACC schools. But in general, adding one sport schools, or non-football schools will only lead to issues. If the Big XII goes this way, look for them to add football from UConn, Temple, Villanova, or whoever they add for basketball. Its not a recipe for security, it is a stop-gap.
For the BE, they started as basketball conference and added Football later to lure in new schools with strong football programs, so that is different and shouldn't be a model.

I've always thought the bowls should do a rematch, so ...
If you play in a bowl game (earn the game) in Dec/Jan, you play a rematch with that team in August. Teams change, so it could be lopsided, but it would create more OOC matchups that are of interest early in the season. Let the winners host the game to add more stake in the real bowl game.
In the past, there were a handful of "pre-season bowls" already (Kickoff Classic, Pigskin Classic, etc.). They were planned very last minute by scheduling standards. Its possible.

I haven't been to a game in a few years. I'm excited to see some old-hokie style football again. Hope I'm not disappointed.
