14+3 = 17?
How do you schedule 17 teams fairly for football- even if you go to 9 or 10 games? Without divisions there is some expanded flexibility, but still a challenge. Not sure how the odd number works overall. Would not be an easy job. Would allow for one non-conference game every week as there would always be a bye (similar to the basketball schedule). As a fantasy football commish, I can only say that odd numbers only cause problems - unless full round robin.
8 ACC games/yr:
Play 7 for 2 years, and the other 7 for 2 years plus 1 rival? - only play 15 teams in 4 year stretch?
Play 8 for 2 years, and the other 8 for 2 years - no rivals?
9 ACC games/yr:
Play 7 for 2 years, and the other 7 for 2 years plus 2 rivals every year? - likely works?
10 ACC game/yr -
Play 6 for 2 years, and the other 6 for 2 years plus 4 rivals every year? - likely works and keeps more rivalries going

And does 18 team basketball simply go to 1 game each team (17 games) plus maybe 3 rivals (if any)? Much easier.

Now if the ACC can just assign the right rivals. We'll get stuck with Calford.

Cal stanford and SMU to play each other 4x each for football and reimburse the ACC for travel costs and pay a royalty on any beer and hot dog sales.

makes zero sense. Brett McMurphy said ESPN can renegotiate the TV contract if the ACC goes below 15 schools but I have a hard time believing that will actually happen. I don't see anyway for FSU or Clemson to leave. What conference would take a school that will take from their media share but not contribute for 12-13 years? It makes the other conferences media share less per school while FSU essentially would be taking a 50 million per year hit until 2036.

Similar to Big Ten model. No divisions. Gives everyone equal access to Florida, Texas and California. Preserves best traditional rivalries.
VT-UVA only
UVA-VT and UNC
UNC-UVA, Duke and NC State
Duke-Wake and UNC
Wake-Duke and NC State
NC State-UNC, Clemson and Wake
Cal and Stanford each other
FSU and Miami each other
Loserville-Nobody
BC-Syracuse
Pitt-Syracuse
Syracuse-Pitt and BC
Clemson-Ga Tech and NC State
Ga Tech-Clemson
SMU-Nobody
ND keeps current future ACC schedules the same but adds a sixth game adding two game series with Cal, Stanford and SMU over six years.
Hoops- Play everyone once then three teams ACC chooses for TV ratings twice. Duke and Carolina obviously play twice.

That game is a traditional rivalry. It should be featured in our TV package.
I've been assuming the ND/Stanford game would continue, but that ND and the ACC would not formally add a 6th game requirement. ND will just keep doing it, IMO.
Cal and SMU should just rotate in like everyone else.

No more games scheduled after that but I realize that can easily be added. Just seems like a hassle to change others’ schedules.

one of out of every three years. Not too bad. That's probably the ticket with an 8 game schedule.
If they go to 9, the 7-7-2 is probably the right solution.
