However it is going to take a while for the dust to settle in the ACC. The PAC looks about finished but FSU is just blowing smoke up everybody's rear end in the ACC. I read that Arizona Board of Regents that governs both Arizona & Arizona State is having a big meeting at 6:00 PM today. That may be the end of the PAC. I also hear that Utah has been on the phone with the B1G front office on a constant basis. The B1G will do good to take Cal & Stanford along with Oregon & Washington. It will be purely an academic issue if Cal & Stanford make the B1G cut. Utah can forget it. Back to the ACC. Just because those seven schools (Magnificent Seven) got together to investigate that GOR does not necessarily mean anything more. I think the only way to bring schools mass exiting the ACC is dissolving the conference. No way else. That is a radical move that stoic reserved academic types shy away from. I mean it is a Las Vegas high roller type move. FSU might vote for dissolution but most of the other six will not. That puts the ACC most likely staying together until 2035. With schools leaving in the same exact style as Texas & Oklahoma leaving the Big 12. Of course FSU will keep grinning & blowing smoke. I think that is their nature.

There are entities in our country with so much more money than Disney/ESPN that all it takes is Bezos or Tim Cook, or their predecessors, to decide they want to own all the college sports content and everything changes.

best? One could make an argument that VT could be a doormat in either of those conferences, but any team not a part of one of those two is going to be a 2nd tier with an enormous resources gap. VT's overall branding will be more limited. I do think the money flowing in/out of college athletics is out of control and a return to putting the student before athlete in student-athletes would be great, but that train left the station a while ago.

leftover schools that want the ACC to return to being a primarily basketball conference similar to what the Big East did a few years ago. For the schools, who want to place just as much importance on football, it may be better for them to start with a fresh slate just like how the AAC was formed from the former Big East schools.

With F being a smaller regional conference. At one point I would have thought maybe we'd end up in the B12 with Pitt to round out an easternish batch of schools along with WV, UC, and UCF. But it sounds like they will soon expand with AZ, ASU, and Utah.
