Why do I have a feeling when the ACC implodes VT is left out to dry..
Every national article I read is in love with UVA because of academics. Which is why I see them eventually in the Big 10. All of this is super frustrating

See them taking FSU and Clemson but also wanting to add new markets. If they did that, then we should be in decent shape.
I do think the ACC as we know its days are numbered. The BIG and SEC will poach the best schools and kill the conference off. What I hope plays out is us and NC State end up in the SEC with FSU and Clem; UVA and UNC to the BIG.
It’s really a shame and a reason I don’t pay as much attention to college football anymore. The ACC made some bad decisions at the conference level as well as the universities making bad decisions. Too much pride IMO. This combined with FSU and Miami tanking at exactly the wrong time did us no favors.

We can make it with the residuals of the money the others dolled out to leave.

Are you a graduate, not impressed with your degree, or just an observer??/
Sorry a massive flagship university of 39,000 with major campuses in Northern VA DC and Roanoke along with Blacksburg, and a very good athletic program that is in the black with no debt and averaging over 66,000 per game, and the largest alumni base in Northern Va and the largest alumni base in charlotte, VT will be just fine. thank you for your support.
Anyway your lack of respect in the university and the base is terrible. Suggest you go over to the UVA site and wallow in your ineptitude

VT's fall off in football (which is clearly the driver of realignment) the last decade could not have been more poorly timed. I think VT's athletics are headed back to where they were in the 1980's

Given our lack of success in past few years - along with Pitt and Louisville I’ve heard B12 values the rivalries with WVU - in 2022 - Backyard brawl drew in over 3m and the black diamond had over 1.5m. If the # is 24 - well then hello SEC/B10 - if we start winning again then that changes everything. Let’s go

The academic thing in conference realignment is a farce.
IMHO, academics are readily used cover up their transgressions. Every Big Ten school knows the academic stuff is all BS. I've seen athletes at Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland and even Michigan who couldn't get into junior college if they weren't a gifted athlete.

If you look at where Pry is recruiting right now... we're covering the state, but he is stretching more into the midwest a little bit... maybe there is something there. Either BIG12 or BIG10.
Unlike Oregon State and Washington State, as I said in a different post, VT has a brand. People know the school, know some of the famous players, and know Enter Sandman. Crazy how an entrance to a football game has helped build that brand.

I think it all dies down by august 15th. FSU and Clemson stay put

hear VT talked about much in the whole realignment discussion once you get out of the VT dedicated media.

been winning lately and brands. The people that will be making the decisions will consider the school football programs, fan base, football passion, potential and location.

But it may well be Ivy League type educated advertising execs who would rather watch World Cup that college football and whose job is simply to find the best way financially for the companies they work for.

VT has been featured on ESPN’s Thursday Night Football (prime time) lineup FAR more than any other program. Like not even a close second.
Even when we sucked we got those spots. We played twice on Thursday last year and are playing Syracuse this year in Lane in prime time on Thursday. (Welcome to the Terror Dome!)
ESPN/Herbstreet/Fowler/Corso would probably unanimously agree that VT was the catalyst to that whole Thursday night thing starting and succeeding. Lane Stadium and Enter Sandman are ESPN’s darlings for Thursday Night football.
Hokies, give yourself some credit where it’s warranted. Our brand is beyond legit, let’s just take care of it on the field.
VT BABY!!!!
