Current plans are to retire at 60 and move overseas

I want to live in Uruguay but Mrs. Gooby is starting to push for rural Italy. Uruguay in particular is attractive because a retired couple can live there on ~$1200/mo (including health care), so with what we're estimating we'll have, we should be living very comfortably

Nothing like going for a doctor's visit for a sore throat

and ending up needing emergency surgery that same day. ** Edited by GoobyPls at 11/6/2024, 10:20:15 PM

Anybody here ever moved overseas temporarily?

Doing retirement planning recently and we're hoping to move to Uruguay for a couple of years while still keeping our US citizenship. What does that entail? Looks like it's relatively easy on the Uruguay side, but I'm not sure what I have to do on the US side

Yeah, this is a 5-7 team

I don't see anything here that makes me believe I'll be watching meaningful VT football by late November

My boss just sent me this picture of his cat's X-ray

We were talking Tuesday morning and he said his cat had been throwing up since Friday. I told him he should take the cat to the vet, and it turns out they had to do emergency surgery. That white tangle in the middle isn't intestines, they found *25* hair ties inside of it.

Stick in Baltimore this week. You folks weren't lying about MD drivers

I thought the summertime NY-expats on the Jersey Shore were bad (and they are), but I think MD might actually be worse. It's close

A while back I mentioned how business software sales

has seemingly pivoted to the pharma model of the early 2010's, having very attractive young women doing cold calls. My job title makes it sound like I'm important (even though I'm basically a worker bee), and my name was once on a $20K business software purchase, so I get hounded by these calls all the time. Is this a thing in other industries?

It's not really organic anymore

Tether has printed millions in fake coins to prop up BTC. The next BTC price plummet will happen once Tether goes down

6 wins and a bowl was my goal

This was about the best I thought they could reasonably hope for. Really happy with the progress

In a single season, yeah

They are two away from the 2015 76'ers, who had a 28-game streak across two seasons

What was the best music you heard this year?

Mine was pretty easy: Let's Start Here by Lil Yachty. In a complete left turn from his annoying SoundCloud rap, he released probably the best psychedelic rock album I've heard in 10 years. If you love Pink Floyd, you owe it to yourself to give this a listen.

No, you're misunderstanding their post

The tanks are used to clean and paint. I'm guessing they just load the turrets with shells full of Formula 409 and Dutch Boy

It's a little-known fact that sub commanders would tell their crew that

they were actually on their way to Pismo Beach, with all the clams they could eat

Same order I'd have them in

Christmas seems to be a meme farm for those of us over 40, but it turns out it's pretty bad as, you know, a comedy movie.

Just rewatched National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Way less funny than I remembered. Not just because the humor is dated, but just because a lot of it was really dumb in the first place. Especially the physical comedy. Like the sledding sequence, for instance, or the drive to get the tree. Probably doesn't help that Chevy Chase is so unlikeable here. And it's not like I've lost my taste for 80's comedy. I rewatched original Ghostbusters recently, and that still mostly holds up.
