You and some others on this board have been very supportive of WVU's inclusion in the ACC over the years. But there are others here and in the ACC in general who use "small market" as a reason not to add WVU.

WVU @Maryland, UNC, @ NC St., Clemson @ Duke, GT, @ Miami, UVA. Doesn’t that look SO much better than the craptastic stuff we’ve had to endure these last 15 years? We would play FSU every other year. I think bball coulda made the move to 22 conference games and done A-OK. Play everybody home and home. That’s stretching it, but you could play enough cupcakes and a couple legit squads OOC. ND can kiss our ass. If they REaLLY wanted in, we would maybe bring them along with Pitt to keep our Baltimore to Miami dominance in check. Championship games shoulda ALWAYS been in Charlotte. ACCTourney shoulda ALWAYS been in Charlotte. I think those tickets would sell out more often than not. Most of the time they might be white hot tickets. they’ve killed those games by moving them around. I remember those very many embarrassing empty stadiums in broad daylight in Florida. I think this ACC lineup would still be together and very very strong. We would still have the Orange Bowl, but split 12 ways. I also think we would have quite similar bowls and NCAA Tourney credits to share, 12 ways. It would be must see TV in the competitive amd rapidly growing Baltimore to Miami region of the country. Only Swofford couldn’t sell that.

They figured out rather quickly that nobody in Boston gives a ratz about BC, and they care even less about ACC baseball. Lol. They cancelled the thing once they figured out that as cool as Fenway is, it’s not gonna be cool to have 2 dozen fans there. So, they added Boston College for the Boston TV market (joke already) and then waited 15 years before creating an ACC Network In order to even try to capitalize on it. Remember the University of Texas alone and the PAC 12 had networks up and running years before the ACC did.

market size. WVU against a lot of ACC teams would be better content than much of the current ACC football content. (2) WVU fans would travel and that helps with ticket sales AND game day TV atmosphere. (3) The ACC Presidents need to get off their academic high horses and add WVU especially after they already showed that academics dont really matter (Louisville)

I've been calling for it for 5 years. But WVU is locked into a GOR until 2025. Next year, 2023, is the window of opportunity to invite WVU. It gives them the 2 year notice to the Big XII, and they would be able to cleanly transition to the ACC over that 2 years. They would need to set up the things needed for the ACC Network like everyone else has done during the transition period. But if they go ahead and resign with the Big XII, we will have missed the mark IMO.

Cincinnati made the CFP last year, so that would give the ACC a legit football program, something that is currently in short supply.

We've always though of adding a pair. But with the requirement for divisions gone, perhaps not. WVU and Cincinnati are the pair. Then perhaps 2 from SMU, Tulane, Memphis, UAB, or Navy. Memphis and UAB are contiguous. SMU gets into Texas.

We should just announce that the ACC is a G5/G6 conference if we do that. Get the best programs in the Big12 instead and give the ACC a much needed shot in the arm in football. If we want Texas, get Baylor and either Houston or Texas Tech. Baylor has been consistent enough and has a pretty large enrollment for a private school (we have way too many private schools with small fan bases now). Get OSU. They're legit. Iowa State has been good under Campbell and gets us into the Midwest. Take a Kansas school to round out a 5 team division. Kansas sucks in football, but basketball will eventually be much more profitable to conferences after we yank it away from the NCAA. Cincinnati provides another legit football program, better than WVU. The resulting 20 team conference would be pretty good. It's not a great situation, but there's no reason to not try to make it the best we can. I'd hope that the ACC's leadership isn't embracing a weak, pathetic defeatist attitude in their talks with ESPN. They should bludgeon then with the report that FSU and Miami are drawing interest from Fox/B1G, ESPN's chief competitor, and would break into the south and Florida by taking them. They can choose between Baylor, SMU, TCU, Houston, Rice, and Texas Tech. Basically pull from the Southwest Conference. Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State are there too from the Big 8. I was expecting the Big Ten to take Kanas, but so far they haven't. Kansas and Missouri should be in the Big Ten. But they went to the west coast instead. It will be interesting to see if they like that in five years. I know most Big Ten fans hate Maryland and Rutgers in there, but this is a different level altogether. But so far the ACC has wanted to stay contiguous adding states. We've had to work around the departure of Maryland. Navy adds it back. We've been working through additions from the Big East and Metro Conferences. What we need is new states. That's what WVU and Cincinnati do. It's also what the others on my list do to the south. Adding schools on the West Coast looks good on paper, but I think we'd all hate it if we did it. Texas is a compromise. I don't know what Jim Phillips is going to do. So far it looks like he's sitting on his duff. I'm hoping he's planning the next move privately, but don't know that. I'd do WVU and Cincinnati now, and then look to the gulf states and Tennessee for more football. I've always liked USF, but we don't really need another from Florida.

And if we add some more small private schools, let’s go ahead and add ones that are a thousand miles away. Let’s get some commuter schools and the academies on board also. Even Cincinnati won’t do Jack for us now. We are totally screwed if we cannot get out of this league. Actually, it’s f we can’t get out we’re all gonna become Cinncinnatti and SMU.

already in place - PITT, VT, UL, UM and who doesn’t want to see the eers roll into Hooville - to watch the pearl clutching in the stands I’m gonna watch a heated rivalry game every time - and ACC just does not have a lot of that right now -can’t really include UVA v VT - besides the VT fans not many are gonna tune in for the annual beat down - UVA v UNC - please - zzzz - VT V Miami -annually oh wait nevermind - I do think the 3-5-5 will help - as we rotate more with NC State and FSU
