We should just announce that the ACC is a G5/G6 conference if we do that. Get the best programs in the Big12 instead and give the ACC a much needed shot in the arm in football. If we want Texas, get Baylor and either Houston or Texas Tech. Baylor has been consistent enough and has a pretty large enrollment for a private school (we have way too many private schools with small fan bases now). Get OSU. They're legit. Iowa State has been good under Campbell and gets us into the Midwest. Take a Kansas school to round out a 5 team division. Kansas sucks in football, but basketball will eventually be much more profitable to conferences after we yank it away from the NCAA. Cincinnati provides another legit football program, better than WVU. The resulting 20 team conference would be pretty good. It's not a great situation, but there's no reason to not try to make it the best we can. I'd hope that the ACC's leadership isn't embracing a weak, pathetic defeatist attitude in their talks with ESPN. They should bludgeon then with the report that FSU and Miami are drawing interest from Fox/B1G, ESPN's chief competitor, and would break into the south and Florida by taking them. They should also bludgeon them with the fact that ESPN is paying Vanderbilt, Mizzou, and other garbage programs more than they're paying Clemson, FSU, and Miami, which is indefensible. ** Edited by ren_hoek at 8/7/2022, 9:17:38 AM
