Oregon State and Washington State are NOT AAU member institutions. AAU affiliation, with the obvious exception of Notre Dame, is usually thought to be mandatory to receive a B1G invitation. These 2 schools are gross under performers in sports too. They're not likely to get into the B1G.

Maybe add Boise State and san Diego over OSU and WSU? Have four 5 team divisions. Taking Colorado ends any hope of the B1G continuing their geographical contiguousness. It's starting to look like the ACC will stay at 14.5 until 2035-36 unless Notre Dame bolts. If the Irish leave, the ACC won't expand. I read somewhere that if the ACC expanded, they would have to agree on a new GOR. That would be too risky for the ACC to do right now since it might allow some ACC members to jump ship.

Except for a nice run from 2015 until 2018 Washington State has been pretty awful for a long time and don't bring much in terms of fan base. Oregon State has just been atrocious. They bring zero market value. Why waste 2 precious slots on those two?? Wait and see if they can get Oregon and Washington. I doubt they'll get those last 2 but the Big 12 should at least try! The Big 12 has been successfully raided 4 freaking times, by all rights they should be extinct. They lost Colorado to the PAC 12, Nebraska to B1G, Texas A&M plus Missouri to the SEC, and obviously in the 4th raid lost Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC too. Of their last 6 replacement schools only one came from a power conference, WVU! TCU, plus Houston, UCF, Cincy, and BYU are ALL G5 additions. They definitely should not take anymore G5 schools at all. The crocodile tears must be flowing like a tsunami right now at Memphis State, Boise State, SMU, & USF! As I said the other day here, the Big 12 is waiting to see if the ACC will blow up and take whatever schools have any value that remain. We shall see.

Athletically VT, WVU, Oklahoma State etc., etc., all have more brand value than Rutgers, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, etc., etc.but they got into power conferences largely due to academics, population, location and some based on ancient history. Like you it irks me too but nobody said this process would be fair.

Was reading the the Twitter feed of the Dude of MN, Greg Flugaur and he was mentioning the ACC's GOR being pretty solid. I think the 10 years comment was made in passing, but the point was, the ACC raid won't be anytime soon. Maybe there is ways around the GOR, but the B1G isn't in a hurry. The same guy has been talking about USC to the B1G for several months now, and I know we've had speculative posts about it here as well.

Plus, if the Big XII and Pac-12 both lose their power conference status for the next College Football Playoff contract, then people could end up asking "Why leave the Pac-12 for the Big XII? Why not remain in the Pac-12 until the Big Ten is done making all of its moves?" I could understand making the move if the Big XII had its own conference network because it would be better than the P12N. However, it doesn't have a conference network so I'm not sure the Big XII will see that much of an increase in pay for its next contract especially if it is no longer a power conference.
