Well, the lounge resident big baby is back from the ER. If you've ever
taken a nice whack at your thumb or finger with a hammer, that would best describe what this bite is like. The pain starts at impact, of course, but it starts to increase as the seconds tick on, and radiates up your arm. By about 20 minutes, you are fine with the hammer shot. But the pain with this bite/sting increased as the HOURS ticked by, and my whole hand felt like a steam roller went over it. By the time I got to the ER, I was kind of wincing when I spoke, and really wanted to start cursing or bite on a towel or something. It definitely seemed like I got a toxin that attacked the nerves. I had already done the internet symptom search at home, and had started to zero in on Black Widow because I had this weird sweat going on around both bite sites, and that seemed exclusive to Black Widows. They offered me some pain meds at the ER but I declined because I don't like taking that stuff. But about an hour later, as I was pacing around trying to walk it off, I changed my mind, haha. Give it to me Doc!!! Unfortunately, it was only some souped up tylenol type thing that didn't work. Anyway, there was no definitive answer as to what it was, but I know I've never had it like that, and I don't want it again. I'm now 7 hours in, and it still hurts like it is in my bones. In a couple of hours, I believe I will self medicate with bourbon like a normal person.

Did this thread really go 25 deep without a prescription for Tussin?
I don't even know you people anymore.

Did someone call for a doctor?
A 15-minute minor operation to remove the source of your discomfort and you will feel good as new. Where does it hurt?

And as I contemplate the bourbon remedy as hour 9 hits the books with no
relief, my google search tells me that the shot of Toradol they gave me precludes those plans. No drinky drinky for me now. For the love of God!...Do NOT let anyone give you that stuff. It sucks.

I think since he lives in the Keys, a peg leg would be appropriate.

I had a similar issue with my heel 5-6 years ago ...
Was working in the lawn and felt the worst instantaneous pain I had ever experienced and couldn't put any weight on my left foot. Hopped into the house and put it over ice for about 30 minutes in excruciating pain. Had no idea what had happened but my first thought was Achilles. However, about 45 minutes after the incident, it felt almost normal and I was able to go on with my Saturday. Clearly it wasn't my Achilles. Fast-forward to Monday morning. I was on a work call and reached down to scratch an itch on my left ankle and it was swollen to about 200% of my right ankle. I took a quick trip to the ER where the doctor quickly pointed out the bite marks from the snake that got me. Must not have been venomous but it was REALLY infected. Put my on IV antibiotics with a second prescription and I felt great a few hours later.

That's pretty creepy. Were you wearing flip-flops? I try to keep a good
look out for snakes around here, using a flashlight when I walk around at night. But being half blind is probably going to do me in eventually. And BTW...shouldn't you be in Mexico by now...and watching the news? =P Ah...I have the discipline of a 2 year old.

No - was wearing sneakers with low socks and it got my right above the ...
sock on my left heel. It was mid-morning and I never even saw it - had my airpods in listening to music. Leave for Cabo Saturday morning and will likely watch the World Cup. It won't be in English there but at least I can understand it and I know enough Espanol to be dangerous.

Sounds like my Spanish. Somedays it just flows, some days I am a ridiculous
gringo. I do know, "use it or lose it" applies.
