Rest in peace, Mr. Worsham

They were friends. I remember as a kid wearing a camouflage "WesWay Sprinkler System" hat (I might have the exact business name wrong). Wes gave to the Hokies long before their football growth. As a Virginia Tech student I got sit with Mr. Worsham a time or two in his booth for a game - the old press box. I remember when our kicker was having a bad season. Mr. Worsham told me, "You know our kicker tried to kill himself?" I was shocked and told him no. He then said with a grin, "he had a rope around his neck and tried to kick the chair out from underneath but missed it three times." I trust that my dad was there to welcome his friend Home.

I grew up in Richmond but would visit often to see grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Mom and Dad moved back after he retired. Built a nice home off Dividing Creek. Dad passed away last year.

I was down there 5 years ago. We are looking houses in Deltaville, Mathews, Seaford etc if we do not build. we purchased the property 25 years ago for 95k. We put in another 25k to build .5 mile road and a house site clearing. We have a 120k in it 25 years ago. it has 550 feet of waterfront with 4 ft mlw on Lancaster creek.

Last weekend, I was watching my daughter get her first D1 hit (she was 1-1 against Delaware in a pinch hit appearance) and tomorrow, I have a Top 25 NCAA D2 women's lacrosse match-up 4 hours away. I had a D1 game 2 weeks ago to open the season. Staying busy. Always on the go. How are you?

challenge especially when you are married to a 68 year old junk food junkie who I swear has stock in Little Debbie’s ha ha. But in the end I’m responsible for what I put in my mouth. My one and only child just had her 31st birthday and complains about how old she is and feels 😂 but I would love to go back to that age and change some things and life decisions I made but that’s on me. Still enjoy working at the hospital in the new cardiovascular unit and helping patients and seeing my wife enjoy retirement. Other than that I’m excited about what Franklin is going to be able to do with the football program now that VT has at least for now gotten some what serious about big boy football. I still have to wonder no matter wether you loved him, liked him, or hated him what Justin Fuente could have done with the program if given what was promised and what he needed like Pry and now Franklin has been given to have a chance to be successful? His shot across the bow to me was always the beginning to waking some people up at VT including WB. We will see but I am excited about the upcoming year in VT football more than I have been in a long time. Go Hokies! By the way. Congrats on your daughter’s play in softball and getting to be able to enjoy that. Great stuff for a father. I’m happy for you guys. We have a suite (starting this season) for Army Football in the new Michie expanded area so will be there quite a bit for Football over the next 10 years. In addition to suite, we have Army/Navy tickets (up to 10) for the foreseeable future. Daughter got to PH against Iowa yesterday. I was too busy with a D2 Top 25 WLAX match up on Friday and a D3 game yesterday. In total, did 13 miles of running in 27 hours so today, I will watch Rangers football and VT wrestling. If you ever want to experience Army/Navy, let me know. My wife and kids went last year because I was in the Middle East but I should be here for the 2026 game.

Wealthy contributor. I wonder how many American POW veterans from the Korean War are still alive at this time? I’ve googled it a few different ways without any success. According to VA.gov. There were 2,100 still alive in 2004. Which is a long time ago. Sorry, I couldn’t find a more recent date but there can’t be many of those 2,100 still alive. He was held a prisoner for almost 4 months. Had his jaw broken & teeth knocked out. The only food he was given to eat was raw barley without water. He had to swallow it whole because he couldn’t chew it. When released he only weighed 92 lbs. RIP - Mr. Wes Worsham, you deserve to be remembered.

My father in law was West Point class of 1950 ( start of the War) 26 out of 671 are still alive. Most of the 2100 pows were probably younger like 94 , my father in law is 98. Figure 5-7 % stll alive .
