I want Jon Gruden. He is a hard nosed a$$ kicker. We basically have
2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 to get ready for what college football may look like come 2030. Jon has NFL head whistle experience and basically has said 'call me.'
We need a hard a$$ proven asset that's young enough to be around awhile. Someone that can tell recruits 'I can get you to the next level.'
Yea, it will cost. Either go big or be welcomed into the Sun Belt or worse. We don't have time to screw around.

Sure he has won a superbowl.
Sure he lead the Raiders to two division titles.
Sure he is an amazing qb coach.
But resurrecting Hokie Football.........whooooooooo dogggie, that's a mighty tall task!

We need a reboot and if he fails we'll we will be where we are now. If he succeeds he won't be here long anyway but that's OK. Think of a Buzz Williams type hire. Get the program going again. You could hire the next big thing and even if you are right they will jump ship anyway if successful. That's the reality of our money situation today. If we gamble it should be more flash than splash today because we have NOTHING now .
Gruden has baggage. He's an NFL guy but programs are now basically NFL minor leagues. He will be able to hire good coaches who just want to work for him to build resume but we benefit. Kids will like playing for a guy who understands the next level even if they aren't going to make it there. No doubt he will rub some people the wrong way but the football program has foot in the P2/4 grave and "waiting" for money and young coach to develop the program is bigger risk.
It's ok if you think differently but be willing g to accept if we don't turn this around quickly be OK playing in FCS or Sunbelt or some other lower level. I know we won't be Alabama or Georgia any time soon but I don't want to become the team someone pays $600,000 to come to their stadium to get their brains beat out.

But as noted below at 72, I’d like to keep the options open. The road is littered with pro coaches who thought they could coach in college and vice versa.

you’re not answering my questions.
Mind you I’m not expecting him to be the guy. I’m more interested in WHY you and others don’t think he would or should be. It’s mostly hypothetical to me. I just find him to be an intriguing person to think about for the position, particularly after the recent video of him getting loads of merch from FCBP.
