Help me out here,
Montgomery is our interim coach. He was OC, but offense was not good. How is this a plan?

Now, I'm not sure if we have anyone that can throw the ball well, but I'd like to see some other guys try first.

. . . job. It has little to do with being a good coordinator. Far more about getting whoever is still in the boat rowing in the same direction.

Some of these interim coaching things, where there's like 1 game left in the season, or just the bowl game, who cares, you can give it to whoever, give it to the guy the players like the best, or the guy who's got some tie back to the program. But they still have most of a season that requires week-to-week preparation, practice, planning, management, and ideally you don't want to look as lost and non-competitive as VT did for most of last night's game.

Montgomery may have been working under. Did CBP make certain promises to KD about playing time? Is KD some kind of emotional snow flake whose ego was being protected by Pry and/or others. Assuming KD was the highest NIL recipient, was the philosophy not to denigrate the "franchise" player? Again, those questions are kind of rhetorical.
And, as others have said, CPM has former head coaching experience. If there were restraints on CPM, right now he's playing with house money. He knows he won't be around next year, yet he'll be paid for the term of his contract. Thus, my observation that he's playing with house money.
Additionally, we probably need to keep JC working with the DL, particularly with the way the D has played this year. Most speculation before the firing was PM or JC, so this was the decision that was made. I'm kinda MEH.

would elevate that coach to interim head coach?
He’s being made the interim head coach because he has head coaching experience. Who would you promote into that role?

where kicking falls in the scheme of football. If you are talking about Love, he was a good kicker before coming to VT. Presume that Lowe was also.

He has to do what he can with Bowen's players. Can't really show what he can do as a coach. The flip side is that it isn't going to change drastically. Maybe more tempo or some schematic freedom he didn't have with Pry, but we are who we are with this roster unless one of the backup QBs just click in his system. Like someone said above though, It doesn't really matter. The only thing of importance is what happens with AD and HC. This is not a job interview for Montgomery. He is a place holder only.
