Posting History (78)

Well, our 3 month season is over, went fast and was painful.

Now we have to 9 months to wait and watch how this team evolves. I am excited about next year. Hope we hire better S&C staff, our teams have always looked soft for last 10 years (much of that was lack of raw talent). Had we better talent this year (QB, etc.) even with our current coaching staff, we could have won most of our games. I hope Franklin loads up on good players with high ceiling and coaches who can leverage talent to the max. It has been a while since I have looked forward to spring ball Go Hokies, better times ahead

Our new head coach will have time fix every facet of our program

New roster, better S&C, attitude, competiveness, keep fans in stands entire game, clock management, etc.

Help me out here,

Montgomery is our interim coach. He was OC, but offense was not good. How is this a plan?

Honestly, most of our player are just not that good

You can blame poor coaching and poor conditioning, all of which is true , but our players are just not that talented. It comes down to recruiting and roster talent/depth. It starts with Drones, OL and our LBs. Receivers still can't get separation. DL can't get to QB. A talented player with good football instincts can at least overcome bad coaching to some degree. These guys get paid now, no need to sugarcoat or worry about hurt feelings, they suck

A couple indicators that fan base is eroding

The town was virtually dead game day. You could walk in any bar or resturant and immediatle get seated. Most merchandise stores, which are usally busy on game day were not. Walking to the game , there was lukewarm energy. Where I was seated in section 134 almost the entire row I was in and the row below were empty for the whole game. I have never seen that. Even the crowd noise when VT was on defense not nearly as loud as it used to be. The stadium was not full, fans come in expecting to loose these days . We have fallen so far

Last night validated my decision to cancel season tickets after 25 year

I bought single tickets to last nights game and for a second before kick off thought that maybe I regretted not re upping season tickets, but after the game I realized VT football is a joke. It needs a total reboot. I can not support this. This team has no heart, Drones is not a good QB and I have no confidence in the coaching staff. If WB wants more money, then take out a loan buy coaches and players and prove we can win. Why ask fans to pick up the tab. Better chance of winning powerball than this program improving with current staff and roster. Yep, these are pro players now, I have no allegiance to any of them.

I am not saying I am against donating to NIL, I did not say that.

I just want to know how it works. For example I donate 500 dollars and it goes into a larger pot of money. Then Triumph sets up appearance, endorsement or social media deals with athletes under some sort of contractual agreement. Does that mean my 500 dollars is given to the recipient that then goes out and endorses a third-party product (e.g., car dealer, marketing for local real estate company), that would seem like the third party is also benefiting from others money. I am sorry, I don’t go into anything blindly. It is not a matter of questioning my loyalty or desire to win. If that were the case I would have already bailed in our decade of mediocrity.

Triumph NIL is a LLC for profit organization

How much (or percentage) of the "revenue" goes towards salaries and other administration cost. Seems only fair that we know how and what the money is distributed for and what endorsements, appearances or marketing the recipients do for money received

Current state is insanity is not sustainable for most fans, IMO

This whole NIL in its current state is insane. If we are to have a professional team, make these kids sign a contract with terms and conditions, they get a game check after every game. They leave early, they don’t get paid or have to comply with some type of buyout clause. Include ethics clauses that reduce payout or fines if they do something stupid. Like any other business cash in must equal cash out or cuts need to be made. Include pay for performance or incentives for certain milestones. There needs to be at least some kind of salary cap imposed to at least partially level the playing field. Otherwise, these kids will have no idea what it will be like post college NIL or pros. The rest of the world does not work this way, they will not have the necessary values or life skills to exceed in life beyond football. NIL and particularly collectives are nothing more than expensive entitlements. I just cannot wrap my head around this insanity, no matter how much I would like us return to better times.

I'm with you on that, after 25 years, I'm done. Fans deserve better.

Teams like the U, Pitt and Syracuse have crap fans base and they get better product on field. It just sad

ACC wanted Miami to win. There was not enough to overturn

Had it been Miami, the call would have stood. Worst call since Michigan game

Why? Take the points.

These dumb choices are going to catch up with us

Best case for this team is 6-6

Not out of the rehlm of possibilit we win only 2 more this year. Unfortunately this is probably our best team for a while. After 25 years season tickets, this will be my last. BTW the seats really suck and piped in music constantly is very annoying. For years now students are gone by half time. More emphasis on dancing and pizza eating than hard nose football. At least we can drink beer while we experience sub par play. These kids gets get paid now to deliver, so I have no problem calling this team soft. I dont see the studs some folks think we have, maybe a couple exceptions, but how many of these kids have a chance at next level?. Coaching is bad but our talent is lacking across the board. We are in a continuing down spiral with no clear path to rebound. There may be glimmers of hope only to be squashed by reality. Honestly we really are not in a better place now than we were 10 years ago

Agree totally, constant music you can't hear ref

The seats recline back makes anyone over 5'5" knees scrunched and hard for people to pass by in eisle. It has become a 3 hr dance party with a little football thrown in

What I saw

Drones throwing into heavy coverage most of the time, poor reads, we could not contain Vandy QB runs at line of scrimage, we look slow We can't tackle, has been a problem for years Vandy receivers wide open but ours can't get separation No fire We do not have a diverse offense, so very predictable, looks like offense from last year and the year before that and so on Defense and offense need a complete revamp, IMO

Team looks soft to me again this year like every year

Is our S&C program that bad or is it that we do not have the killer mentality (both IMO)? Comparing the energy level of our players to what I observed from Vandy or in other games (Miami, ND/A&M), it was obvious to me that our guys were just going through the motions. Any spark was too little too late. When it really matters like holding the lead late in the game we have consistently shut down. I'm not sure we have the athletes that we think we have. We are not bigger, stronger or faster. Our DL gets pushed around by opposing OL that outweigh them on average by 50 lbs. Who are the "dogs" on this team... really?

Excuses how we loose come full circle

We blame loss when we have a young team but now we are saying a team with new coaches and players is the reason we lost. Our experienced team offered no advantage, but we always use the excuse of losing to an experienced team. So my take away is we lose no mater what
