Defensive coordinator hire?
I don’t think things went as planned for Pry with the defensive coordinator position. Is it really possible they’ll fill the role internally? A sports podcaster mentioned that Pry is definitely on the warm seat—if not the hot seat—and any candidate would likely want a minimum 3-year contract as a safety net in case VT decides to fire him.

They're just waiting for the day that no one on this board asks about it

Or the candidate ask WB and WB says
that unless something really falls apart, CBP is here for at least 2 and probably 3 more year even at the 6-7 win level.

This feels like Fu and striking out (Barry Odom etc) and settling for JHam

It kinda does but hope we're surprised

Was Odom even a realistic possibility at the time for VT?

From what I remember, VT wouldn’t give Fuente the $$ to hire, and
then he shopped and found a better deal.

do you know how hard it is to get a Uhaul after school starts back?

At this point it’s either a home run or a strike out, IMO.
The former would be the case if it’s someone from one of the teams still playing in the playoffs ND/OSU/NFL. The latter would be that no one wants a 1 year stint with a probable lame duck head coach. Unfortunately this is the more likely scenario, since next year has less talent and a harder schedule. I’m not a betting man but would put my money on Quinn.

I have no knowledge, but I suspect the answer will actually be in between.
I seriously doubt it's a DC with a team still playing the CFP or NFL playoffs. That would be a HR - and was never really a realistic possibility. But it could very well be a non-DC at that level. And in my mind, that would likely not be a HR, but not a K either. Or it could be that VT is discussions with more than one person who is neither a HR or K, but all parties are still not ready to commit.

100% agree. I wasn’t implying we’d seriously be in line for the ND/OSU DC
or similar. A linebackers coach at one of those schools or a good NFL team would be a home run for this program.

VT has hired NFL position coaches before with mixed - at best - results.
I'm not sure I would call an NFL or college "blue blood" position coach, a HR hire. But perhaps that's just semantics.

Nick Sorensen? Possibility, but most likely wants to stay in the NFL

I think that's pretty unlikely. So I stand by what I wrote.

I now believe that Pry gets two more years, regardless of outcome next year
Sort of marginal bait to the new DC to come.

I'm starting to think it just might be Quinn, but agree home run or SO
Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised and indeed it's a home run hire.

It’s not going to be Quinn, too important of a hire to promote from within

Yeah, who knows, but if it’s Quinn why the slow walking to announce?

wouldn't it be better for it to be a touchdown hire than a home run hire?
W

Or a field goal hire
S

or maybe a stopped at the goal line on 4th and one hire...

3 and out is probably better

Just hoping it's not a fumble with a scoop and score by the D

What about a win on penalty kicks hire?
