Exactly. What a guy - takes money all these years
and won't just leave without milking us out of a few more millions. Must be a nice grift to be in athletics - even for the poor schools.

So sorry a two-time Purple Heart recipient hurt your fragile ego
This post and your ignorance is seriously making me angry.

Steve Forbes said CMY is his "best friend"
Things that make you go hrm... either...
1. You just took a decent 5 from your best friend.
2. Your best friend told you to take his decent 5 and see if can make a good season with him.
3. Your best friend told you to take his lousy 5 and try to beat him with him knowing you likely won't.
4. Dorn was leaving so you figured why not at least give him to your best friend, even if it means beating VT with him.
5. We're about to get a decent player from Wake.
6. Both friends are in poverty and have not control over this.
7. Or something else.
I'm so confused how competitive guys can do this - in the same conference, when Wake just sent VT home on the first day of the ACC tourney. I suppose they both could just want what's best for Dorn over their respective friendship and state of their programs.

Ending legacy admissions, COVID mandates, NOVA, Whit Babcock
and of course the Virginia Tech logo rebrand for starters.

Dang you boys are old! But I did have to print out my Pascal source code
on a dot matrix printer in the lab before turning it in. Do not miss those days. There wasn't much soft in software in '91.

Hard to argue that Indiana winning the natty in football
was anything short of amazing. It proves a great coach can take a dead program to the top of a great conference and go undefeated in today's climate, with a lot of JMU talent. I thought the blue bloods had locked everyone out but there's hope.

Agree - best tournament I've watched in years
And there are some great teams in the Final Four. Michigan v. Arizona is gonna be epic.

The perfect storm...
1. Lame duck coach that just started the season feeling he had a tournament team and ended dropping F bombs in press conferences and declining an NIT before it was even given. The quote at the end of the season pretty much tells you coach is tired. "No, I'm thinking about spring break. I'm thinking about going to Islamorada with my beautiful wife this spring. It occupies a lot of thought."
2. An even lamer duck in Whit Babcock. I don't get it.
3. Football just made a moonshot for football relevance and probably spent an embarrassing amount of money. It's like a house that has been neglected for a decade and trying to remodel - everything needs fixing. And our tired old gym is about as stale as Enter Sandman.
4. Fan apathy. We've just about had enough let downs and leadership malpractice. You look at the tourney teams whipping the crap out of our ACC brothers, and realize we're 12-14 deep in a bad conference. Knowing we're about to start all over, and that we're poor, is just beyond depressing. Even if you're trying to find the positives, like three players that took tremendous growth last year, you have this sinking feeling they aren't going to be here for a second year.
If you're the VT Admin, who do you go all in on? A proven coach/leader that's still got some juice in the tank and is trying to revive the Hokie national brand. Or a guy that publicly talks about spring break during the season? We know we HAVE to fix football. But it really hurts to be a Hokie fan these days. We wanted both to succeed.

Meh - bottom 2-3 vs. perennial bottom 6-7. No material difference...
CMY is done and will be retiring. He won't make the tourney nor even entertain an invite to the NIT. It's probably a waste of money if we're being candid. You can't build a team around Hammond and Hansberry. Might as well save up for the next coach. At least we're in good company with Syracuse, Notre Dame, and Wake.

That's a level of fan abuse that even Brent couldn't pull off
State gave this thug an opportunity to clean up his record and dominate the ACC, and he just went back to the cesspool.

Best job in sports right now? Fired basketball coach or TV referee analyst?
Watching basketball games, waiting for a close call, and second guessing the refs seems pretty awesome. I doubt the pay is very great but who knows.

Duke - ACC champions in football, men hoops and women's hoops
That's an impressive trio for their program. More importantly, they are peaking in both performance and spend at the right time when you compare them to UNC and NC State. The Raleigh/Durham TV market is up for grabs. Davis and Belichick will most definitely be fired while Scheyer appears to be very comfortable cranking out titles and NBA draft picks. I still feel like they get poached in the next BigTen conference realignment.

When you'd rather spend March in Islamadora...

High quality basketball for four quarters
Intensity level high, everyone hustling on defense, no long periods without scoring, no one grossly out of place, no one pouting because of a no-call, no flagrant fouls, refs letting em bang it out... one can dream.

It was such a Fuente move. Really disappointed in the program.
Next time you ask alumni and students to fill Cassell on some cold Blacksburg night at 9PM, remember this moment. Maybe take a look in the mirror at your own commitment. Quitting is literally for losers. I can't stand this energy and it convinced me Fu wasn't up to the task.

Curious if Kevin Giltner is using CYM's offense at Wofford
Is it a winning strategy that is being copied anywhere? If not, what is he running?

You guys have been the connective tissue for a lot of Hokies
I don't think the athletic department appreciates what this community has done. It filled the vacuum that our club sorely lacks, gives a healthy place to blow off some steam, and is forever bookmarked in my browser. You guys have always maintained professionalism and fairness. You've lifted up sports I never would have followed or heard about otherwise. It's been fun watching you adapt to the changing tides of social media, video and NIL. Through a lot of coaching turmoil and frustration, you've been a steady fixture of the Hokie brand that kept us all together. Congrats and long live the long format of message boards!

Hunter Cattoor was in the zone. Incredible weekend.
One of the greatest Hokie sports moments in our lifetime. I remember just jumping up and down in my living room the last three minutes of that game. And CMY and gang buzzsawed through Roy and K to do it. Coach K's last ACC tourney as a coach will forever be a butt whoopin by the Hokies. Just incredible.

Okay, here me out - Buzz comes back
We make him stay in Alexandria near our campus, recruit the DMV, and we rent out the Cap One Arena for games. It addresses all of our problems:
1) Recruiting to Blacksburg
2) Facilities - Cassell is quaint and building an arena is expensive; NC State's gym isn't there's or on campus either
3) NCAA appearances
4) Players don't go to class anyway

I think UVA's De Ritter really did a number on that ankle
When he missed the FT and jumped onto Neo's ankle trying to get his own rebound. That OT with UVA cost us probably more than it was worth.

Way too slow for Wake's quickness tonight
His slow windup before attempting a basketball move simply chews up the shot clock. He repeats the same moves and can't get past his man or create any space. I don't think he's wanted to shoot the ball in 15 games. ACC competition stole his mojo. I hope he recovers.
