Should we be concerned we are not getting anyone yet? I would think we need
at least 6 other names, and at least 4-5 who can be contributors unless Sincere Jones and Solomon Davis will surprise us all

But to answer the question as intended...
When you aren't the one who is making the highest offer, youre going to rely on things that take more time to put you ahead:
Relationships
Campus visits
Role within the team
That coupled with some people think the end of the portal window means the end of the portal (not saying thats you)...thats just not the case. You can come out of the portal at any time.
(You can also transfer at any time prior to the school year starting, but its more difficult to pull off and you open yourself to scrutiny once the season rolls around)
VT landed Jailen Bedford April 30 last year. Avdalas didn't commit til June.

in total secrecy until it's made official? If you don't prefer to answer, I understand why and totally understand!!

it makes you think are we in that bad of a shape. Then you also see the players that transferred out already landing a spot, that adds to it. Heck, even Dorn ended up in an ACC school.

long to a coach after the writing is on the wall, then the $$ doesn't flow in and the recruits tend to shy away from what they see as a bad situation next yr. I am sure next yr we will move on to a new coach and have more $$ for talent.

be spot on, unless VT makes the NCAAs and in these portal days, that's a tough road for a team in CMY's current situation
MUST HAVE MO MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lame duck coach, working for a lame duck AD, with a basketball donor base and fanbase feeling alienated by the athletic dept, and a very limited pool of NIL $$$... not sure what type of player that's going to attract.
I'm actually surprised that MY didn't retire after this season. While it was probably a frustrating one for him, I suspect next year will be even more so.

Id be surprised, but not shocked, if CMY stepped down and turned it over to Frazier for 26-27. If he was to step down today, it is a mess trying to do a coaching search with all the balls in the air. But a summer retirement with Frazier named as interim HC, isnt all that crazy. Again I dont foresee this but within the realm of possible imo.

what you were already doing? I wouldn't until I was told to clean out my office.

the SNAILCAA grants them all an extra year. Not a lot of activity until then, except the bluebloods and non ACC caliber players.
Currently there are only 35% of portal entrants that have found new homes. Long way to go yet.

many of our peers. We have to wait for those with resources to pick their favorites and we get who is left.
If you are concerned about having a subpar or worse upcoming season, would brace yourself. We need lots if changes before we roll out a competitive team IMO.

about the upcoming season. VT is in the top 2 for one of the top CGs in the country. IF CMY pulls him in, with what is on hand, and some mid-level players from the portal, who knows.
Could 26-27 be rough? Of course. No one has a clue until the team is assembled and if it's a bad year, I would think CMY is asked to "retire" and the program is reset, hopefully with at least a mid-tier ACC financial situation.
We'll see.

Doubt it will be realized. I predict a sub .500 record in the ACC next year and no telling what happens 2027-2028.

season's record until I see what the roster looks like. If you're correct, CMY will "retire" and the program gets a new staff and infusion of cash. With NIL and 3 times the cash now available, VT could quickly move in the top 8-9 in the ACC. higher with the right hire BY ANYONE BUT WB!!!
