Lots of 757 representation there.

draft, if my memory is correct. Not to be confused with the first draft choice.

Bimbo had 2,484 points, Dell had 2,389. I'm guessing Del made more than 95 "three-pointers" in his VT career. 😉

that Del would have had several hundred three pointers. May enough to have been a three thousand point scorer. I absolutely believe this. I saw most of his home games, like a lot of you probably did, and he shot/made a boatload of long jumpers. His signature shot, to me, was the double screen base line jumper where he literally fell out of bounds in the corner on a lot of them. Another was the couple of dribbles across mid court and let it fly. He shot a lot of those against Memphis State.

To my eyes watching in person and on TV that the defensive strategy on Dell Curry was to keep pushing him farther from the basket which didn't work because he'd keep hitting the shots no matter how far he got pushed back.

even on the tv screen, too far out, camera didn't capture him taking the shot.

based on where he took his regular shots from he probably would have the 95 more that he would have needed to better Bimbo.

That's why the Hornets were my favorite team as a kid.
I knew who every single player was (and the head coach), many because they had local ties.
I pretty much quit watching the NBA when they moved to New Orleans, and I haven't watched since.

was a trophy given to the city with the worst combination of NFL + NBA teams, CLT would win hands down.

Kendall Gill's passing still hurts.
Had season tickets from their inaugural season until about 10 years later. Loved seeing Dell Curry all those years. When he and Vlade Divac were in the game together, some of the passing between those two would take your breath away.
Had Kendall Gill not been killed in that horrible car crash, the Hornets might have been a title contender - Gill was that good. The Hornets of that generation were never the same after that. EDIT - I am incorrect here as I was thinking of Bobby Phills' passing but mixed up the names.
I remember Tony Bennett subbing for Bogues now and then - played decently. One time a friend said we ought to go to a particular vantage point in the coliseum concourse where we could see the players leave the locker room. I indulged the friend and went along. The thing I remember most is that almost every player had a tricked out bling car but Tony Bennett had a no frills Jeep.

Tickets were tough to get. I remember walking through the coliseum parking lot right after games started hunting for tickets. Would head over to the sports bar across the street if I didn’t find them.
Charlotte had a parade when the hornets first made the playoffs. It was a town crazy about their hoops team.
