What an embarrasing performance by a P5 baseball program.

Not sure a 6'5 catcher with a long throwing motion is going to throw out many runners. Hope that gets worked out over the summer and maybe cut down on the pass balls.

Donay threw out 7 of 32 this year, 3 in the Miami game. Ebel threw out 4 of 27. Cooke threw out 2 of 13.
Errors
Donay - 6
Ebel - 1
Cooke - 2
Curious to see what they do with the catching situation next year. Does Donay move to DH, another position or does he stay put behind the plate? Regarding Tyler Stephenson, Donay is bigger. Ebel is really good defensively, but the bat is behind the defense. Cooke is the wild card. We haven't seen enough of him to really know. I'm sure there will be another catcher coming in too.

Did so several times
It’s his inconsistency catching it that’s troubling

learn to compensate for his 'holes'
His arm is fine. Number of Passed balls will come down
His bat is plus-plus for catcher

we may lose 2-3 pitching recruits (1 I know very well is still with us but considering options) from 24/25 classes.
i'm still seeing 1 change to staff this off-season but smarter folks on this site have stated otherwise.
this program is still in good shape, just need to shore up the pitching.

Not to mention when some commit and then go pro instead. Didn’t
that happen, too? NCAA needs to do something about this across all of college BB

starting pitcher, and then he did not pitch all year. No idea if him, but seems possible.

He’s pitched some but I understand he’s not coming back. Really smart kid.

Surgeries thisyear and that he’d only had 3 during his whole coaching career.

this season. Usually somebody turns the corner, but we just didn't see that.....really out of anybody. Weycker pretty consistent. Kirtner/Higgins looked good in spots. Nobody else really asserted themselves. Will no doubt be an area of focus into the Portal season and next Fall. Other aspects were generally good enough. Need more out of the staff and especially out of the pen.

3 errors, 5 unearned runs, 6 stolen bases allowed. Not stuff of champions.
Next season will tell us if this program’s arrow is still pointing upward or whether we simply caught lighting in a bottle in 2022. I fear……

Official scoring is weird
Sentlinger was charged with three earned runs after he relieved Drue, but they were also a result of the bonehead play.
In my mind, 8 of the 14 were unearned.

DeMartini is back and Carson Jones SHOULD come back to get better at hitting curve balls
Hackenburg probably doesn’t want to come back after THAT tonight
What Szefc does to address the pitching debacle that 2023 was…will be the deciding factor on whether we contend or tank next year too

He is only 2 years out of HS. I don't think that he is 21. Unless he is 21 or 3 years out of HS, he can not go pro. Is he going to enter the portal? What will happen with Hack?

Will probably lose a few other pitchers too. Plus Green and Worley won’t be playing next season if Tommy John surgery is performed. They might pick up a few in the transfer portal.

Hopefully they’ll develop and be much better with the use of the lab being fully open now

concern is if we have the personnel in place to develop him as a pitcher.

Don't forget, the player has to do his part to develop. It takes work, work, and more work.
