Same concerns here. Too many echoes of Stinespring, Cornelson

Franklin appears to be a good recruiter, but will that make up for a completely inexperienced OC? I'm gonna reserve final judgement on that but yeah, it doesn't look good. I don't think we'll win more than 7 games based on that alone. ** Edited by n2beaches at 7/20/2026, 9:24:45 AM

Any chance we get a QB change? I'm not an insider so I'm asking

Watched the GT game again and was struck at the differences in talent level between Drones and the GT QB. Unfortunately that is a theme that seems to be playing out pretty much every single game. Drones was billed as a mobile QB, however I'm not really that impressed with his mobility. When I see him run, he looks like a fullback playing QB. His arm strength is average, but not above average, however given the number of QB's with weak arm strength we've had , sadly its an improvement. Despite being a 5th year senior, he is still a mediocre passer, and don't think he'll get any better. There were a ton of passes that were just poorly thrown and that can't be blamed on the receivers, some resulting in interceptions. Is Pop Watson that much of a step down that we can't go to him? What little I've seen of him suggests he has a much higher athleticism and ceiling than Drones. At this point, looks like a guaranteed losing season if we continue to go with Drones. I just don't think he's proven to be worth all the NIL money we're paying him. ** Edited by n2beaches at 10/20/2025, 1:34:20 PM

I was once a supporter of Brent Pry...............(beware, long)

for about 2 months. After Fuente, hoped for a fresh start so I was optimistic. However that changed when I learned Pry was hiring completely inexperienced OC and DC's. So yeah, I turned negative before Pry even fielded his first team. I was called out for it, being called a negative nancy, etc etc for pointing out the obvious, that this HC and team were headed for failure. Any new coach's biggest decisions are his coaching hires, and he failed miserably long before he started. It's incomprehensible how a new HC with no prior experience would hire similarly inexperienced coordinators for this team. Assigning Bowen, a guy who had never played or coached the QB position, the new QB coach position was equally boneheaded. I say this because it simply has to be said. Brent Pry was never and will be never be a bright guy. He just doesn't have the smarts to be a HC. His staff decisions have proved me right on this. Whether its the staff hires, or issues with game/time management during games, its all the same. Too many poor decisions over and over. I said this before about him, that his poor decision making ability was not by chance, and it was a lifelong trait for him. 4 years after his hire and still making poor decisions. Is there any question? I watched his ODU postgame for the first time today, and was struck how little emotion he displayed. He didn't even really seem to be all that upset. Saying that this is our deepest team ever was a complete joke. He never broke above the 40's in recruiting rank (including transfers), and this year 83. No fire in him, and IMO no strong desire to win, something all HC's need. I wrote a satire about him a year ago, essentially stating he was a plant for Penn State, designed to sabotage VT football so PSU could continue to dominate recruiting in the state of VA. I was just kidding, but was I? Pry was born in PA, and most of his extended family still lives in PA. Got the feeling some time ago that Pry wants to go back to PA, having accomplished his mission and being rewarded with $25 mill by a gullible AD who is as clueless. I predicted last year that this year would be Pry's last and I was proven right. The VT community never deserved the incompetence and fleecing of millions at our expense for a man who never really wanted to be here. ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/15/2025, 11:30:31 PM

Babcock absolutely needs to be fired first

From hiring an inexperienced HC with no prior hc experience, and allowing that HC to hire 2 inexperienced OC and DC's. This same guy who approved the worst sports apparel deal out of all P5 schools when he was hired. He's planning now to renew that horrific deal for another 5 years, extending our underpayment compared to every other P4 school. Even the Fuente hire was suspect as he hired a coach whose record was like 26-23 at the time of his hire. Then extending Fu's contract twice despite worsening performance, leading to a huge buyout. I estimated once that he's cost VT over $20 million due to his errors. Babcock's judgement has been as bad or worse then Pry's over the years. Its like the blind leading the blind here at VT. ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/8/2025, 12:28:15 PM

Why hire a HC with no prior HC experience and pay him near the top of ACC

and give him a 6 year contract? Pry's initial contract was for $4 million 1st year, increasing each year. Given no prior HC experience his salary and buyout should have been much lower. Contrast that with a similarly inexperienced USC HC named Shane Beamer who coached in a conference with much higher salaries, who only got $2.7 million/year when he started, as well as only a 5 year contract. Something was seriously wrong with Babcock's mind or judgement when he made this hire and contract.

VT 2026 recruiting on track to be the worst ever...

Currently ranked 83rd on 247.com. Link below. If you haven't noticed, it has gotten worse every year since Pry took control. I guess classes in the 40's werent bad enough. Pry decided to take things to a new level this year. FYI, Fuente's classes averaged around 37-38. There's no talent left on this team anymore and unfortunately the football team will only get worse. This guy needs to go.........

2024 roster had some talent, but not enough. The talent was evident by the

nfl draft picks we had. However it does any school little good when that talent is overwhelmingly surrounded by G5 and FCS level players. Yes some pundits picked VT to at least compete for an ACC title, but that was based on the number of returning players ( I think it was like 17-18 returning starters) which was the highest in the ACC. It certainly wasn't based on the overall level of talent we had.

Recruiting numbers are just awful....

I thought there might have been some improvement with the transfer portal, but that has been awful too. EVERY year since he arrived in 11/2021, Pry's recruiting classes have gotten worse. For those of you who think Pry has done well in the transfer portal, most experts don't agree. There appear to be 47 teams who have done better. Link below. 2022 class - 43rd 2023 class - 46th 2024 class - 47th 2025 class - 48th; transfer class ranking also 48th. If you're thinking 2026 class is going to be better, think again - currently ranked 75th. Although this is way early, things are not trending in the right direction. This guy is just incapable of recruiting, and needs to go back to being a coordinator again. This upcoming year I think will be Pry's last, and it can't come too soon for me. ** Edited by n2beaches at 5/13/2025, 7:53:29 PM

We might but it still won't save him. Pry loses 14 starters from this team

that brought back the most starters in the P4? and that may still end up with a losing season. What will happen when a defensive minded team and HC loses 8 out of 11 defensive starters, and 14 out of 22 starters overall?

Don't be fooled by posters who claim VT is recruiting ok. Its gotten worse

every single year Pry has been the HC. He does not have a single 4 star recruit in his class. Ranking on 247 2022 - 43 2023 - 44 2024 - 47 2025 so far - 48 No wonder Pry is unable to win any 1 score games. You need talent to win the close games, and its obvious the talent pool is shrinking. Pry's days are numbered. He might win against UVA but then lose the bowl game and still finish with another losing season. Not only has he been a substandard coach, but his recruiting has been worse than Fuente's whose average class was ranked 38. He will lose 8 starters on defense including the entire 2 deep on the defensive line. Watch next years defense do its best imitation of a sieve. I believe we lose 14 of 22 starters including our starting RB, all our starting WR's, and probably Drones as well. I don't think he'll win more than 4 games next year, but at least this nightmare will be over. I think the fans' patience with him is at an end. Next year will be Pry's last year. If he hadn't made incredibly bone headed decisions like hiring completely inexperienced OC and DC who happened to be close personal friends, he might have generated some good will to let him survive this, but he didn't and there is none. If he hadn't picked a QB coach who has never played or coached QB position before, or never paid his unqualified friends salaries near the top of the ACC at the time of their hiring with no justification, there might be more good will. If he were an ace recruiter bringing in top classes to make up for his deficiencies, there might be some good will. There is no good will left and he will not survive next year. ** Edited by n2beaches at 11/28/2024, 12:49:55 AM

Bowen doesn't even know how to hold a football. There's a media pic out

there where he is holding the football in a supposed throwing position. Can't find it, but one of the other posters posted it recently. ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/24/2024, 3:11:28 PM

People here are complaining that Pry can't win the close games. If you

don't have the talent, then this will happen ALOT. So yeah, recruiting matters.

Recruiting continues to worsen under Pry

Brent Pry hired on 11/2021. Since then recruiting has only gotten worse when we were promised improvement. We can't win without talent, and his efforts have lead to a gradual talent drain since he started. Recruiting Rankings on 247 2022 - 43 2023 - 44 2024 - 47 2025 so far - 50 Just like the performance of his unqualified personal friends as OC and DC, there appears to be no signs of improvement whatsoever, and things appear to be worsening. I made a satirical post last year about Pry possibly being a plant by PSU to improve PSU recruiting in VA by slowly ruining VT performance and recruiting. Part of the plan was to win just enough to prolong his tenure and VT's misery, but not enough to actually win any good recruits. At this point, I'm wondering if what was meant as a jest might actually be true. If you guys think things will be better next year, think again. Next year we lose 14 of 22 starters, with only 8 starters back total, and only 3 on the defense. We lose all our starting WR's and our starting RB, as well as 2 veteran OL. If you think our passing is inadequate this year, it will only get worse. If you think our defense is mediocre this year, next years defense will do its best imitation of a sieve. I suspect VT will win 5-6 games this year, but no more, possibly just enough to go to a bowl game they will lose, and just enough to allow Pry to keep his job. Things could definitely get worse, since BC is no longer a pushover this year, and even UVA is 3-1 so far. I also expect next season to be a bloodbath, and Pry to finally lose his job at year-end. At least the misery will be over.

Fact is Rutgers missed scoring multiple times while in our Red Zone so the

argument can be made that the score could have been much worse. The better team won today, and in a hostile stadium, so they earned this win.

It doesn't help Drones when the QB coach knows less about the position than

the people he is supposed to coach? That same guy who is coaching the most important position on the team is also the OC? This was a bone headed decision by Pry to hire not only an inexperienced OC for the offense, but an inexperienced guy who has never played or coached QB's before as the new QB coach. If the media pictures are correct, Bowen appears not to even know how to hold a football correctly when throwing it. ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/21/2024, 10:30:53 PM

The reason numbers of players signed is heavily considered in recruiting

rankings is that a LARGE number of talented players signed is always better than a FEW number of talented players signed. You got more players to address your needs as opposed to fewer. Why is that so difficult for some people to understand. Another reason that having fewer players signed is bad is that you're left scrambling to fill out the rest of the class with lower quality players, as you can see with the 68th ranked transfer portal players that Pry was forced to sign. If VT was indeed 4th in the ACC with the AVERAGE star rankings, than it says more about the ACC than it does about VT. The ACC has been declining as a football conference for the past decade along with the quality of their players. There's a reason why FSU, the top team in the ACC was snubbed from the playoff, and for that same reason they were obliterated in the bowl game they subsequently went to. ** Edited by n2beaches at 2/12/2024, 3:44:16 PM

Should I instead rely on some message board posters and writers who are so

overtly biased that its impossible for them to make an objective assessment? Nothing wrong with being a fan of a team and being biased, but frankly it clouds your judgement. Presenting your biased opinion as being superior to that of objective experienced analysts who have been doing this for years is silly.

You're upset that I'm pointing out that by the most widely used recruiting

ranking service out there that Pry's recruiting classes have been getting worse? Seriously? I didn't make up these numbers. If you're going to get upset at that, then feel free to shoot the 247 analysts a message about your disagreement. Or perhaps tell Pry to simply recruit better. Either would get you better results than showing angst about someone who's just showing numbers that anyone can easily obtain. Yes you've writing about it for months. But now the final signing period just closed and its fair to make a comment about it. Sorry that you don't agree that Pry's recruiting is lackluster. The vast majority of professional ranking analysts don't agree with you and no need to get huffy and puffy about it. I like the writers on this site, but frankly given your bias, its impossible for you to form objective opinions on the rankings, including you Will. No need to flip out over someone showing some actual numbers. ** Edited by n2beaches at 2/9/2024, 10:48:42 PM

Recruiting continues to worsen under Pry. Ranking of 52nd

is by far the worst recruiting record so far. Even the transfer portal ranking is pretty bad at 68th. #42 - 2022 #44 - 2023 #52 - 2024 Pry may have bought himself a year or 2 with slightly improved record at the end of last year, but it doesn't change the trajectory of the program. Unless he can recruit better, than all that is going to happen is the continued depletion of talent at VT by Pry and longterm downtrend of the program. If he can continue to get decent players out of the portal, it will help, but his latest transfer ranking was abysmal, and they will do nothing but prolong the inevitable. For comparison, Fuente was considered to be a mediocre recruiter but his average was like 37. Pry is nearly 10 positions worse at an average of 46. 247 link below. ** Edited by n2beaches at 2/9/2024, 3:29:11 PM

Yes, ranking is skewed by numbers, but you can't claim you have a great

recruiting class if, for example, you recruit like 10 players. Nor does that do anything to build the depth you need. If a team has fewer recruits, it signals a hesitancy among the recruits. That is not a good thing given the amount of competition out there, and the ranking services understand that. If you can't get the numbers you need, you may also rush at the end to recruit low quality players to fill your roster, also not a great thing. I'll grant you that Pry has a chance to turn it around, but at the moment by the ranking services, he is ranked 41st, not a great ranking. How many of the better recruits with options will sign with VT as the season continues to tank? ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/26/2023, 9:50:14 PM

Sorry but recruiting is NOT trending upward

Fuente's recruiting average was 38 during his span at VT Pry's classes so far 2022 - 43rd after being hired. 2023 - 44th 2024 - 41st so far..... I don't really see an appreciable improvement. It seems to be stuck in the 40's. Pry has proven to be as much a disappointment on the recruiting trail as he has been as a HC, and his average is worse than his predecessor. To those who blame VT's problems at lack of talent, how will things improve seeing as the current HC is recruiting worse than the last one?

You've posted like 50 times today. Is that you Hokie80? Shouldn't you be

banned or something. No one without any significant psych issues posts so much after every single post you don't like.

Beamer only survived b/c the AD forced him to fire his OC and DC. Do you

foresee that our AD will force him to do that as well? That is the only path forward at this point.

If I were a Def Coordinator, hypothetically, at a school like PSU (LONG)

(theoretical and not based in reality), with diehard loyalties to said school, and wanted to make recruiting easier for PSU in the state of VA, I would...... 1. Look for a P5 school in VA looking for a HC, with a gullible AD and convince him that you are the best candidate despite having no HC experience, and despite the presence of many other experienced HC candidates. Who am I kidding?....we know no such AD exists.....who would be that dumb? 2. Convince that gullible AD to give you a $27 mill contract over 6 years starting at $4 mill/yr - $5 mill/yr, when the standard contract is 5 years, and despite other new inexperienced HC's, like say Shane Beamer, who started at $2.7 mill/year. Make that contract extend to 6 years so that firing you is so expensive, they may keep you until the end. This also gives you a chance to ruin that school's football program for a longer time. But hey, this is just theoretical, b/c again, which AD would be dumb enough to sign that contract? 3. Proceed to hire an OC and DC with no respective experience at their positions, and pay them salaries at top 2-3 of the ACC conference, so as to prevent that school from using that money for other important things. 4. Once being hired, proceed to completely ignore the top 4-star RB in the state(hypothetically Ramon Brown), who had been committed to VT for 6 months, and watch him sign with Maryland in disgust at the lack of interest from the new HC. 5. Pretend to be recruiting (so you can stay hired longer) and recruit at a level just worse (2022 - 43rd, 2023 - 44th, 2024 - 41st so far) than the average recruiting level (38th) of the last guy who was fired, and hope no one notices. 6. Completely ignore HC responsibilities and pretend to be tutoring that inexperienced guy at DC you hired and who has no clue how to coach, and after a year and half of "tutoring" still has no clue. Pretend you're actually trying to win and trying to put forth a good effort. 7. Fire the 2 coaches in your program who had collectively 20 years of P5 OC experience, in favor of the new guy assigned to OC who had none, and just performed horribly at the job last year. 8. Make the guy who performed so poorly at the OC position and who has no experience playing or coaching the QB, the new QB coach. The new QB's in the system will surely learn alot from a guy who knows less about the position than they do. 9. Convince that gullible AD that hired you, that Nike is a great partner and being underpaid $2 mill/year compared with teams like Wake Forest is a great thing. Convince him to renew that deal for yet another few years so as to maximize underpayment compared with every other team in the ACC. 10. Hire PATT's on all the message boards and social media, to attack anyone who smartly expresses any doubt about the new HC's performance, because everyone knows this isn't America, and we can't have people discovering your plot and secret loyalties. Any ways, guys, this is all just speculation and hypotheticals, and maybe some jest for your amusement. We all know that such circumstances I described can't possibly exist in real life. Stuff like this only exists in novels. In fact I'm sorry I even mentioned it....my apologies to all. ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/17/2023, 11:26:19 AM

Recruits know Pry will be gone after another year or 2. I personally think

he will be fired at the end of next year. Given his choice of OC and DC, they also know Pry isn't committed to winning, but to enriching his personal friends.

Do you honestly believe Pry will ever fire his personal friend Bowen?

because thats what Beamer had to do when he overhauled his staff to stay as HC during that period. No, Pry will keep him until he himself is fired.

Pry was never the guy. I knew as much before the start of last year when I

saw Pry pick 2 of his completely unqualified and inexperienced personal friends as OC and DC. It was then I knew that Pry would not do what was best for VT, but used his position to grant huge financial windfalls to 2 guys who never coached the position in P5 before. Pry is about helping his friends and not about doing what was necessary to win. If there is any doubt about this, remember he fired Brad Glenn and Joe Rudolph, who each had 10+ years OC coaching experience, and Pry instead had a complete novice who had never run his own offense at the P5 level retained while the other 2 were let go. Brad Glenn just helped lead Cincinatti win over Pitt yesterday. ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/10/2023, 8:55:58 PM

My observation is that he struggles when he's under pressure

He did well at ODU because he was never pressured and had all day to throw the ball. ODU lost what? 50+ guys off the team from last year, including much of their defensive personnel including defensive backs off of the one of the worst teams in FBS? This was bound to be a good game for VT. The real question is how does he do against a team with an average or better defense? Even against ODU, I observed that he telegraphed wayyyyy too many passes, and against most teams that are not among the worse in FBS, that will lead to more interceptions and disaster. What will he do when he is getting defensive pressure like he will with every other team we play this year? ** Edited by n2beaches at 9/7/2023, 2:37:28 PM

Whit is at the heart of everything wrong w/ VT football since he was hired

Reupping Fuente's contract twice, signing the worst sports apparel deal out of all P5 teams, etc. For those of you who gave Whit a pass saying the Nike contract "landed on his desk the day he started"......guess what?? HE DID IT AGAIN! Signed an extension to the worst P5 sports apparel contract! I don't believe his current choice of Pry as HC will work out either. The guy seems to think VT is made of limitless money. Hiring a new HC who had never had HC experience before, and paying him the salary of a seasoned HC. Let's compare him to a similarly inexperienced HC named Shane Beamer who started at a salary of $2.7 mill/year, commensurate with his experience level, in a much better conference.

I think the best choice for VT if the ACC falls apart (Long)....

and SEC/B1G don't invite VT might be the B12. Thats assuming that the ACC or its members are willing to pay the large exit fee or somehow able to dissolve the conference. I'm assuming that Clemson, FSU, Miami, and maybe several other schools leave for SEC or B1G. If this happens, the ACC can poach some of the Big East schools (like UConn), or VT can join the B12 (a conference with WVU), a conference with decent Media revenue contract as well. Obviously the best scenario would be for ACC to increase its payments (not likely) or VT join SEC/B1G. I wouldn't mind being in the same conference as WVU. Any thoughts? There is an article where it discussed total payout per conference per school, and last year 2022 the B12 topped the ACC. Pasted link here. Summarized here. These are last year and I'm aware there are bigger contracts pending for this upcoming year. B1G: $58.8M, with slightly less for Neb, UMd, Rutgers SEC: $49.9M Big 12: $42M to $44.9M ACC: $37.9M to $41.3M Pac-12: $37M https://sports.yahoo.com/power-five-conferences-brought-i... Regarding the future, just saw an article where the average MEDIA (not total CONFERENCE) payout per year in the new B12 was $31 mill/year. Total conference revenue sharing was obviously higher. Article pasted below where it discusses how the B12 increased their media payout (just from media rights alone) even with the loss of Texas and Oklahoma. The Big 12 struck a new deal in October 2022 to stick with ESPN and Fox that increases average revenue share per school in excess of $50 million/yr (higher than the ACC pays now) from the 1st article. https://espn960sports.com/byu/big-12-scored-media-value-f... Whatever happens, no conference should ever invite ND in (again) for all sports except football, unless their football team becomes part of the conference. For those with short memories, ND has been the death knell for the prior Big East, before VT, Syracuse, BC, Rutgers, Miami left for better revenue in the ACC and B1G. Since ND joined the ACC for all sports except football (again), the football revenue and Media rights revenue has been lacking again. They have been a death curse on any conference they have joined likely due to the lack of sharing of football money and media rights. I remember a similar arrangement when in the old Metro Conference when Louisville refused to share revenue with the rest of the conference and it led to its downfall. ** Edited by n2beaches at 8/14/2023, 4:31:31 PM

This is one of the worst decisions that Pry has made

Why would you take a guy who coached the worst offense VT has possibly ever had, and have him coach a difficult position he has never played or coached before? This decision is incomprehensible. Pry continues to prove he is a complete novice who continues his pattern of making bad decisions. I've said this before, this is a personality trait that will never change with him. Some college assistants don't have what it takes to be a HC and Pry is proving this. Watch for a disastrous year this upcoming season. No more than 3-4 wins at most. Pry will be gone during or after his 3rd season. ** Edited by n2beaches at 3/14/2023, 11:18:24 AM

Hires should have been made a month or two ago

so that the new hires would be available by the time spring practice starts. At this point, even that is not certain.

This is pathetic. Pry would have known months ago that

Glenn and Rudolph were looking around. This is what you get from a novice HC who goes out and hires complete novices for OC and DC. You shouldn't expect a guy who has been around for a year to keep making mistakes like this. I said this before that Pry has shown he is a bad decision maker, and that this was a personality trait that would not change, and he is proving me right. I don't blame Glenn and Rudoph for leaving ship. They are smart enough to know that the VT offense, and by extension HC job is a sinking ship. They are trying to get out to save their careers before they get blamed for this mess. Pry will be gone by midseason or end of his 3rd year.

Pry's 1st year rated an F by CBS Sports among 1st year head coaches.

This doesn't bode well for next year. See attached link. Also Pry's 2023 recruiting class slipping again to 41 by 247. I guess no one is impressed by Pry's recruiting abilities as well. Sigh... https://247sports.com/college/virginia-tech/Season/2023-F...

No way this guy is 5'11" as listed. In every film shot, he's the shortest

or among the shortest guys on the field. No taller than 5'8-5.9" at most. He's got decent straight line speed and that worked in FCS, but that alone won't get you far in P5 play. His lateral mobility is pretty bad, as he almost comes to a standstill when he has to change direction. He's a backup at best on most P5 teams, but because of our issues at RB, he might actually pickup some reps.

I was using a depth chart off Ourlads site, which is apparently

correct at one point in the season, but outdated. Here is the depth chart released by VTscoop right before our last game. DE -Garbutt (senior) -Jalen Griffin(senior) DT -Pollard (senior) -Fuga(junior) LB -Tisdale(senior) returning -Hollifield(senior), Artis(senior - plays same position as Dax) -Jenkins(junior) CB's -Delane (Freshman) -Chatman (senior) Safety -Connor (senior) -Peoples(senior), Peoples(senior) - same position. I count 8 seniors on defense. I rechecked and Tisdale has decided to return. That leaves 7 seniors graduating. I'll edit my OP to reflect this. If that changes, then i'll be glad to update it again, but until they say they're coming back or not tranferring via portal, they are not part of the returning starters. As to Dorian Strong, reports of his exact injury have been pretty vague but he was not a starter at the end of the season, and he may possibly be on his way portaling out. ** Edited by n2beaches at 12/6/2022, 5:15:21 PM

Recruits know Pry will be gone in a year or 2 at most. I don't see our

record any better next year with a tougher schedule and massive losses due to graduation (particularly on defense) and portal transfers out. Our defense will do its best imitation of a sieve with 7 of 11 starters graduating. Our offense might be more experienced, but Kaleb Smith (our best offensive player) leaving pretty much confirms Bowen and Pry have lost the confidence of our offensive players as well. So yeah, I don't see recruiting improving with another losing year with this HC and OC. ** Edited by n2beaches at 12/6/2022, 5:14:36 PM

Bowen ends season w/118th ranked offense, which would be VT's worst ever

and makes him likely the worst VT OC ever. You got 2 guys on the current roster, Glenn who was OC for 10 years at another FBS school, and Joe Rudolph who was OC in the Big10 for 10 years, neither whom got the nod over the inexperienced "Friend of Pry". He needs to be replaced or reassigned before next season, and if he doesn't, then Pry should do the decent thing and resign or be fired, because it will be obvious he does not have a future at VT.

Total offense is 120 out of 131, and worsening week by week. Our last 4

weekly rankings have been like 116, 117, 119, now 120. We are clearly getting worse over the whole season. If it was talent, then even poor talent gets better with good coaching. The fact that we are getting worse pretty much suggests the they are not getting good coaching, as it is THEIR job to make sure the players get better. Its not just the offense. Defense has continued to slip now to its worst ranking of 61. Like offense, it has been getting worse week by week. There needs to be a bunch of firings at the end of this season.

Our total offense is now 119 out of 131 teams and worsening every week, and

somehow that is indicative of a team that has been operating at high levels and has excellent schemes???. I'd like to have what you're smoking. Our defense which had been ok but not great has been regressing too (now 60) and at its worst since the season began. Wait for the bloodbath next year after 8 of 11 senior starters on defense graduate. Why believe me? Check the link below if you don't believe me. ** Edited by n2beaches at 11/7/2022, 5:06:34 PM

He has one of the worst decision making abilities in college FB that I've

ever seen. Hiring 2 of his inexperienced unqualified personal friends as OC and DC and somehow thinking that would be good for VT was a disaster entirely of his own making. Its also one of the worse examples of cronyism out there. He was given an expanded hiring budget to go out and get the best assistants. Instead of that, all he did was use that extra budget to hike up the salaries of his undeserving friends to levels commensurate with assistants with many years of experience, something they didn't have.

Pry appears to be a man who is in a job way over his pay grade

He seems like a nice guy, almost Beamer-esque in his mannerisms, and I've said the same in the past. However, being a nice guy isn't needed as a HC. NIck Saban and Brian Kelly appear to be jerks on the field and probably in real life, but they win and so no one cares. While that might be nice for alumni relations, it has to be accompanied by good decision making, good coaching, and good recruiting. Pry appears to have failed all 3 aspects. ** Edited by n2beaches at 11/7/2022, 4:31:26 PM

PryBow offense worsening as the year goes on. Now ranked 117th out of 131

teams in FBS. It was 116th last week, and has been worsening week by week. We appear to be regressing not getting better. I sure hope Pry makes a permanent change to OC soon. The Bowen experiment has been real fun (not really) but its time for a change. If an OC needs help in the booth with playcalling from another former OC, he shouldn't ever have been appointed OC to begin with. Link below ** Edited by n2beaches at 10/28/2022, 7:08:38 PM

I don't see anywhere on my original post that you responded to where I

called Bowen a "friend of Pry". So I'm still trying to figure out what you're referring to. Perhaps you don't know the meaning of the phrase.

Frankly I don't really know what part of my post is "attacking agressive"

as you claim. It certainly isn't the part where I stated my opinion that Pry should have hired an experienced OC. Half the posters on this board have expressed the same opinion. Nor do I believe its the part where I stated that Bowen is "a personal friend", or the part where I factually stated he had "no P5 OC experience except a single bowl game where he was running someone else's offense". So really I can't figure out what you're referring to. From your past posts, you seem to be very sympathetic to Foster and his assistants. Nothing wrong with that and I applaud you for your loyalty. But its very difficult to smell the roses when you're biased.

So we can financially benefit a personal FOP (friend of Pry) rather than

putting forward the most qualified man for the job. Even on his own staff, there are 2 other offensive coaches with significant OC experience, particularly Brad Glenn who didn't get the nod and the higher salary. This is reprehensible IMO and one of the main reasons Pry shouldn't be our HC. He makes bad and IMO corrupt decisions that puts the interest of VT 2nd behind that of his friends.

Except Pry knows very little about offense, therefore it was incumbent on

him to bring in an experienced OC, not a personal friend with no P5 OC experience except a single bowl game where he was running someone else's offense.

You already have a very experienced former OC on the staff in Brad Glenn

who was the OC at Western Carolina and Georgia State for over 10 years. I'm not that familiar with this record, but apparently he ran some prolific offenses at both places. Not sure why he wasn't given the OC role as opposed to Bowen. If you're not worried about Marve, you should be. As I understand, he was actually running the defensive playcalling during the Wofford game at a minimum, so he must have had a significant role in the defense in our 3 losses. More importantly, Pry has to be spending a tremendous amount of time training and babysitting him that it takes away from other things he needs to do, like training our players on avoiding penalties, time clock management, and especially recruiting.
