The long history of this rivalry means something. I'd rather play them than the citadel, north alabama or liberty.

if there is an overall drop in college enrollment, it won't be vt ..
that folds up.
rather, it will be Mary Baldwin, Bridgewater, Lynchburg College, Averett, etc...
Of course, people with Duke law degrees will be the first to fail.

Well..
Differences:
RPI is private, VT is public.
RPI has around 6k undergrad students. VT has 29k
RPI has an endowment of 800 million. VT has and endowment of 1.7 billion.
Similarities:
Both are have highly respected engineering programs.
Both are similarly ranked.
I'm not sure what negative reports you've seen on RPI, but its not going anywhere either. It is a highly respected national university well suited to train students to meet the needs of the future.

Virginia Tech isn't going anywhere.
In fact, Virginia Tech's (and other similar schools) expansion is some of the reason smaller schools are having issues. Why pay $30k for a small liberal arts college when you can pay $20 for Virginia tech?

scary experience at the mall today
i was waiting to leave the mall. this guy pulls in front of me and in the process i notice that there is a kitten in the undercarriage of his car. poor little guy looked scared to death. i guess this guy just didn't care. maybe he was trying to get rid of it?
i kept honking and pointing at kitten. but he just kept waving and ignoring me. at one point, i pulled in front of him and tried to slow down so i could tell him about the kitten. he just kept driving. he finally turned off into the methadone clinic so i just let him go.
i hope everything is ok with that guy. obviously a very disturbed individual.
