A banned philosophy, a banned work, and a banned author. And I mean bannination with extreme prejudice. Even as a conservative -- or at least non-liberal -- I find the ethical constructs of Objectivism to be heinous. We could go on and on, but 1) rejection of altruism and 2) self-interest as a primary driver of everything are great places to start. I have been known to lift stray copies of Atlas Shrugged from their (public) places of abandonment and just toss em in a remote dumpster before some innocent mistakenly picks the thing up.

philosophy. "Anthem" was assigned in my HS junior English served as an entry.
My folks were very civically involved and vehemently disagreed with her but understood she reacted to the horror of Lenin, the Russian Revolution and Stalin she experienced and how the USSR kept her family from joining her.

Problem is, today that HS would be crucified for allowing discussion of opposing viewpoints.
And I'm not suggesting to agree/disagree with anything in the book - just agree to civilly discuss it.
