I just married off the daughter; I discussed with the caterer that all sta

staff were fully paid (not $2 per hour plus tips) for their services prior to the event. She said yes and know tipping was required/expected. So I tipped $50 to each worker on top of their normal pay and $100 to the bartender that I had a mad crush on. Afterwards, I was told that the bartender put out a tip jar and that this is an etiquette faux pas unless it is a cash bar. If it a free bar, tipping should be required of the host and not the guests. I still do not know if my tip level was considered appropriate (whatever that means).

I heard in the 90s in Blacksburg (may still be true) nobody needed a U-Haul

To get to school but everybody needed one to leave. The U-Haul owner was so rich, he flew students to dc in his personal plane and paid them to drive U-Haul trucks back to Blacksburg. Myth or reality? ** Edited by dolph at 5/31/2026, 8:13:29 AM

I was in nags head as usual that week and watched the draft. To get up two

Days later and see that was so depressing. Awesome college player. So sad an ending.

That whole 1982 class was a result of Tom Abatemarco who was on loan for on

one year. He went on to NC State and finally got caught cheating. Chris Washburn couldn't even read.

My kids story. Get a lawyer. Do not go to a frat party (judge) without a

frat brother (lawyer). The lawyer had her take the class and do all of the community service before the hearing. One year clean driving after that and it was all dropped. Lawyer was $600. Money well spent.

@VTChip Two questions. Weren't you impressed by the crowd? With

that big crowd, can you explain the logic for the venue? It was less than ideal for watching softball; blocked views, double fences etc. Was it to be convenient for all of the younger players that played in the park that day? Glad you made it home safe; that storm was a zinger.

You can put a "Stop Loss" order under half of it and remove the emotion.

That would let you let it ride as long as you want, but take the decision making out of the sell order.

Watching the US open. You now need 4 balls to choose from? Name another spo

Sport. Curry at the free throw line, four balls to pick from. Schueffler to tee off. Looks at four balls and pick one. Here come the field goal team. Looks at four balls and pick one. Just give them two balls and roll on. Right Lag.

I do not like any of the Lane stadium food except a turkey leg every couple

years as a novelty. I am pretty sure they are fried in bacon fat before grilling. That being said, the only away stadium food I liked was at Duke. The have the line of food trucks that are awesome, but the crowds are so small, they can do that. I went to the Nebraska Orange Bowl game and sat in the club level. Hot ladies in referee shirts took your orders and brought you food and alcohol. The food sucked, but I kept ordering for some reason. I do like the Cassell dairy club milkshakes. ** Edited by dolph at 7/14/2025, 3:08:23 PM ** Edited by dolph at 7/14/2025, 4:51:08 PM
