Posting History (636)

The Lounge 1 d ago

It will all come together pretty quickly, I was back doing Karate

full speed around 3 months, and passed my black belt test within a year. Hiking on uneven ground was annoying for a while. It has been near 3 years post surgery and my new hip is better than my remaining natural one except the muscles around it seem to tire out faster...

I usually tailgate one game per year

Rest of the games I catch on TV or radio (from the deer stand). I guess it is an aging thing, at near 60 y/o I just prefer a calm afternoon in nature, plus I'm at VT all week normally...

I thought Warmachine was a good movie

but that was the main show I've watched recently. Lincoln Lawyer is a good show also on the 4th season, so it is probably running out of seasons...

Could be bird flu or Vultures suffer

From lead poison due to lead shot in game species(seems like the wrong season for that. I found a dead one on my place last year and nothing would eat that bird.

Some supplies seems to have never recovered from the Covid years,

I have had a hard time finding Winchester Ballistic Silvertip in .243. Eventually, decided to not pay $60 per 20 box online and switched over to more reasonably priced and more available ammo.

This happens every time I watch

VT basketball, even told my wife watch them hit a half court 3.

Enjoyed each season

I'm an 85 HS grad so I thought they did a great job showing the 80s era. Some things in the final season were a little goofy and my mind didn't stay focused as much in the final season. Up the Irons, The Trooper is one of my favorite Iron Maiden songs. Supposedly the entire idea for the show came from some X-men comics. Might read those...

I don't hate them, followed them a bit in the 80's and almost

went there for my undergrad. Stopped at the U when I was spring breaking in the late 80's, not a bad place to visit.

My 2018 Hyundai Elantra has one of those built in

takes a minute or 2 after starting or it to kick in, but works great while driving.

I honestly think he was a bit blindsided

by that firing. I would be also after being recently in the semi finals of the playoffs, then canned. I'm really glad he is at VT, very capable coach and I think he will bring us back to the top of ACC.

I had the Ford equivalent (the Ranchero).

Picking up my dates in that brown Ranchero was always fun.

Yep, I was shocked by that firing and

I suspect he was pretty surprised also. Just seems like a lack of respect for his accomplishments.

With the rumored NIL $, 2 years Max

I expect we will be in the hunt for ACC championship next year.

If Franklin wants Pry on his staff

then he should be on his staff. Pry seems like a great guy with a good upbeat attitude, had he won 60% of one score games he would probably still be VT head coach.

I suspect due to his prior connections in the Mid-Atlantic

our recruiting will improve to the top 25-35 range within a year or two. Top 10-20 extremely doubtful, but maybe he can build of success fairly quickly.

The 95% Grain-Alcohol, used to be legal back in the day but several

states outlawed it. I had a purchase license for it in VA for awhile for research but it expired. We used to use it for some of RNA purifcations, because the high proof for research contains contains Toluene.

Its because the PSU defense under Pry was really good and keeping

them in games. PSU fans I know wanted Pry as their next head coach... but we know now how Pry worked out as Head Coach at VT.

I'm still surprised he was fired based on his success at PSU,

all those bowl games, great seasons, clean program, and he is fired mid-season. NIL has changed the landscape of college football and expectations and reality are "out of whack".

Sounds like the perfect fit for VT, at this point

Beamers' record for his last few years of coaching look downright fantastic.

I'd be perfectly happy with that hire, Franklin has won everywhere he has

been. That record vs top 10 and top 20 is lopsided but really many of those games have been relatively close.

Yes, I bet thru fan duels

I can't bet on teams within the state of VA since I live in VA. I bet mostly for fun but I've taken a few hundred dollars out of my account each year, I'm down this year. I bet more NFL than NCAA games.

I think he'd be great at VT, he clearly knows how to use the portal

and he has the experience as a HC plus defensive Co. He wins at Duke, he can win a lot at VT.

Trade it in, the dealership should have knowledge of any inherent problems

in that make of car anyway. They know it's a CVT transmission with 85K, just like when I traded in my Jeep-dealers know about the death wobble...

One at the Cellar wouldn't accept

My 27 y/o friends Passport from Ireland a few years back. It was real guy was a doctoral student in one of the labs I work in.

I'm sure he has learned something from his past experiences but

some of those in conference records from Tulsa are just bad. Kind of makes me wonder what teams make up the 43Wins. I doubt VT will hire a "flash" candidate, I would like to see a coach with a winning record vs Big4 conference competition. Montgomery had a winning record in conference 3 of 8 years coaching and some of those 5 losing years were bad(1-7, 2-6, 2-6, 3-5, 3-5).
