Is it me or does it just seem the epitome of Hokie sports bad luck that we
Have probably the most dominant wrestler in our program’s history who just happens to come along in the greatest Fr weight class of all time? Am I wrong about that?
I mean Seidel is the most exciting wrestler I’ve seen us put on the mat but he’s lost 2x to probably (currently) the most dominant under 23 wrestler on the planet (and Seidel was fractions of seconds from beating him once)
Really hope Seidel can either stay at 133 while Jax moves up or vice versa. Because dang is this weight class STACKED, or what!?

postseason. Always tough being a Hokie fan. Hope softball can make a long playoff run when it gets to that time.

On the 1st takedown. If that would have happened the match is different. It would have been closer. Aaron got reckless on his next shot and got burned. After that he threw caution to the wind trying to catch up. Playing catch up to JF will get you burned. These 2 are closer than you think. This will just be fuel for Siedel in the off season and has some pure studs to train with. Give him another year in Robie's room. I hope he gets to wrestle Forrest many times over the next 3 years. Its what we as fans want to see. I wish they could go again today.

That one extra move to win the scramble.

Of hand. But literally any other year (without the gauntlet this weight class is) I think Seidel wins a natty no doubt

There is always someone you have to strive to beat.
When Dresser was here in Christiansburg, he used to say he took the kids to the big tournaments to get them beaten so they would work harder.

either much easier to win than they are or VT is just better as an athletic place than we are. This year really showed it. We were told and knew that this was a rebuilding year and it pretty well played out that way. The thing is we did not have that 2 to 3 wrestlers who could be counted on to win against anybody. We did have a good bunch of wrestlers who could win the less than steller tourneys but the big one is an entirely different matter. And it is not just a matter of talent, it is draws and who may bet upset and block conso advancement.
What we did have was about 8 guys who are legitimately top 10-12 wrestlers who can get to top 8 under favorable conditions with 2 of them being top 6 most of the time. Unfortunately this was not most of the time for EV.
With Seidel seeing the level and intensity of the semis, he will be better prepared next year just as Henson was. Bassett hopefully will just be good enough to not have been there before won't matter.
Next year the draws may work better for us and we have 6-8 AAs. This just was not the year.

I’m only disappointed in Sasso & EV’s NCAA the rest of them competed hard and did pretty well. Gaj just lost at the wrong time but has been a warrior coming back
I was just bemoaning Seidel’s situation individually…the coincidence of having such a stud in a weight class that is the most ridiculously loaded class most observers would agree the sport may have ever seen

Yeah, the odds for EV were better than he did. He had been there before and done better. Sasso, wasn't this his 1st one? This was a great education for our younger guys. They are not real tuned in to some guy from Princeton blowing through a number of higher seeds to make the finals.

Ono is likely 133 next season. Penn State also has Desmond.
Will Seidel be able to stay at 133 next season?
133 could look drastically different next season and certainly ‘27/28.
