I have a lot of faith in the future
I really really do.
But it's very telling that our only three weights left are lightweights.
I think it's time to thank Haught for his service to VT and move in a different direction.

Both when it looked bad, and when it was looking good after ACCs. Seasons now over for the big guys. Looking at the body of work, we need to develop better there. We're good at getting not at good guys to be be pretty good, but can't get big time talents over the hump at the upper weights.
There is no reason for Mullen to be worse than a year ago after quitting football.

1. Increased expectations due to the unexpected conference wins at higher weights.
2. Sasso was seriously overranked going into the tournament, for whatever reason.
That said, the higher weights might be suffering from two issues - talent AND coaching.

But, maybe our expectations were too lofty after the ACCT run. This is a rebuilding year.
Agree with you about the upper weights. Talent is there but execution is inconsistent at best.
Gaj is wrestling well and will need to continue to wrestle his nuts off to have a shot at AA.
Eddie is going to have to buckle up because his road to AA is a lot harder now than his road to the finals would have been.
Seidel is a boss. I really hope he finally breaks through and gets the respect he deserves with a win over Forest.
Crook, Miller, Church, Serg, and Bullock gave it their all and came up short in a tough tournament. No shame in that.
Jimmy had a tough draw but that's because of a lackluster season, but his performance this tournament looks a lot more like a step back than a step forward.
Sasso is perplexing. When he's on, he's a top 5 guy. When he's not, he can look like a JV guy.

To do well in this tourney, it takes more than an ACC championship level or talent and experience. I thought EV had a real chance and AS too. But beyond that, we didn't really have anybody who could come in and overcome adversity. I did think at least one of the ones who are out now would make AA

weights but they just don't seem to develop after getting to Tech. The only lighter weight that come to mind like that has been Crook.
