NCSU fans are salty about our "tactics"...in Eddie's finals match, did the
Stanford kid shoot much other than that ankle pick in the 1st? I still think Eddie out shot him but according to NCSU fans, they said that VT fans were complaining about our "take 1 shot a match and go to SV1" stuff.

Everyone would love to have guys that can TF everyone they encounter,
but in the last 15 years only one program has routinely recruited that consistently at all weight classes. Sometimes guys are better on defense and use that to extract the highest winning % they can and I don't think VT or NCSU have been able to be real picky about the style of the guys they're recruiting. I think both NC State and VT have recruited the best talent they could and developed some guys over the years that are more defensive than offensive. VT has been able to land more recruits that wrestle like Henson, Seidel, and Gaj in the past 2-3 years and that will continue with Bassett and Miller(and Bassett) in the coming years. I expect our bonus pts to take a big step up next year. I don't expect NC State to do the same.

I would like to counter that zero programs recruit 100% offensive studs
Assuming you're referring to PSU: Marcus Blaze, Beau Bartlett, and Facundo all have a very defensive style and have started in just the past few years. Even the best recruit guys who can win and worry about style points later.

Ventresca agrees, but he also knows winning is important. Listen to his
comments. Keep winning EV.

Some numbers
The Neckbeards are really angry lil elves right now. By my count we scored 184 pts vs their 145 and gave up only 77 vs their 123 (counting points before a fall only). We won 23 matches to their 16 and only lost 6 vs their 13. So yeah they got spanked by both us and Stanford. I look forward to our new rivalry vs the trees instead of the wolfies….

Another thing
They want to talk about EV not taking shots. When VR actually doesn't do anything offensively. He doesn't shoot at all🤣🤣🤣

They freely admit Vince doesn’t shoot.

That doesn't give them the right
To whine at EV when their wrestlers been doing the same **** for years

They can whine about Eddie
But it's a little much when they say that's our style. Did they not watch Seidel right after? Or Sergio or Sasso outshooting their opponents? They whined about Gaj too, and I thought that was a hard fought match by both guys. We've both got a few guys that don't create as much action as we would like, and I think we overall have had more aggressive wrestlers than them.

Let them talk. It is all they have at the moment. I have been there and
needed to vent.

As Americans we have a right to Life, Liberty, and...
complaining about the other team stalling.

While I hate the strategy, my hope is he is doing the bare minimum in order
to prevent any type of injury prior to nationals. Remain ultra conservative and stay out of any position that could lead to something getting hurt.

Eddie definitely had a few committed shots trying to get a knee pull
Provo didn't do anything while Eddie was looking for a 1 TD match IMO. I'm sure Eddie was fine with tie breakers but he was definitely looking to get one in regulation.

Eddie was actually a little more active than normal .....
lately it seems he has been somewhat passive and letting the match get to OT where he typically wins in tiebreakers.

This... he actually had Provo twice and let him slip out

He did this “pattern” last year. Hit an aggressive stride mid-season ish,
then a lot of close SV/TB one takedown matches late in year/ACC. Then he did turn it back up early rounds NCAAT. It’s almost like a strategy to prepare for different type matches and pressures. The close matches make me nervous - but in the big picture is he playing strategy & approach & preparation at a Chess vs. Checkers level - fine tuning skills & moves for different situations/scenarios/opponents???
