Perhaps it was time for Kenny to move on, both for Kenny AND VT.
Kenny may have mistaken his building of VT womens basketball to be solely his doing, which is understandable for him, but once he is gone, Whit and Duffy seem to be making moves that will grow the program beyond where Kenny has taken it.
I think coach DUFFY really understands the potential of this Fan Base, this Brand, and the Burg.
She is not just impressed with what Kenny Built.....she (as PRY was) is impressed with VT.
We shall see as it's early in the process, but this has the makings of showing that the VT Women's Basketball is greater than the sum of it's parts.
Get ready Hokies, This is going to be FUN!
Let's GO.....................HOKIES!!!

of VT's women's basketball by not making another down-the-hall hire and in fact pay the guy a pretty good salary, like he's doing again with Coach D. Whit started this, not Kenny.

Most here have high expectations for Megan Duffy...
I just hope that Tech fans, including myself, can be patient if she hits some bumps in the road next season. The ACC is very competitive and even the lower third teams can give you trouble. Lower tier ACC programs like UVA and Clemson want to join the ACC's success along with the 8-9 other successful ACC WBB programs. In a month or so, we will all have a better feel of how good our 2024-2025 women's basketball team will be. Fingers crossed.

any changes. My expectations for wbb are a bit higher than MBB(<= .400 conf), but (wbb) likely bubble at best. I say this w/o even knowing who's playing/joining which is prob foolish. Hope Carys B has navigated w/o too much trauma drama...She's been a lil silent tho(?)..

Development year for Strack and Wenzel type stuff as starters. wouldn't know what we've got until later in the season.

With the magical transfer portal...
some basketball programs may never have to deal with a rebuilding year. That will satisfy the fan base but may slow down the development of the freshmen and sophomores. True about Baker being very quiet.

Most likely but we don't even have a full roster yet.
18 wins (depending on who Tech defeated) might be good enough to get into the NCAA Tournament. Definitely on the bubble.

Seems more like it's the fans who's holding on. However, it's clear the CMD is serious about Hokie Nation getting back on track and staying a powerhouse in WBB. So hiring 2 WNBA players who has experience coaching, recruiting and is familiar with the area speaks volumes on the success she's aiming for in Blacksburg.

The problem would have been that it was a young roster that would likely have taken a bit of a down year or two before it jelled into a team without bringing in experienced transfers. Bringing in transfers could have broken up the potential the young roster we could've had. The situation now is that there are fewer young players to build a future team around but that also means bringing in transfers would be less disruptive. The current returning players, assuming they all stay, looks like a good group that could grow and really be a deep tourney team in a couple of years.

If someone spends their whole life climbing a single mountain, then they become very impressed with themselves once they reach the summit.
For those more impressed with the mountain itself, (like the sherpas with Everest), they focus on the mountain, not the one that climbed it.
VT is the mountain, Kenny is the climber, Duffy, PRY, and Whit are the Sherpas.
The thing that separates folks like coach Duffy and coach PRY from the rest of the more self-absorbed coaches out there, is they seem to see and really appreciate the values, the location, the relentless fanbase, and the quality that is Virginia Tech. And I think Whit trys to hire people with an appreciation of the mountain.
The funny thing about Sherpas is.....they reach the summit many times!
Good times are ahead Hokies!
Let's GO!

At least the climb to the nose bleed sections don't require oxygen tanks.
